I Know This Is Possible, But...

I can't seem to figure out how to do this. This month I am beginning a series of articles online for a national print magazine and they are allowing me to direct them to my web site.

There, I will have a squeeze page to capture their name/email so they can get the monthly bonus from the article.

Here's what I am trying to do:

1. I want to set up a way for them to create a name/password so they don't need to do the squeeze page thing every month.

2. I don't want to use the .htaccess thing (with that drop-down box) because if they forget their password, I don't want to get emails about that.

3. There should be a password-retrieval method if they do forget it.

It's a free site. No money will be taken so I don't need a complicated system. Is this possible/available?

I looked in my cPanel, but didn't recognize anything that would do this.

Any ideas... please? (Thanks.)

use a service called authpro . com it can do everything you ask and it's easy to post a link that users can click to "log in".

edited to add: it's about $4 a month

  • You can easily set something like this with Drupal for free. Install Drupal, set up a site. Choose or build a theme. Get the SimpleNews module or something similar, and make a page with the form.

    Neat.

Would there be a WordPress plugin for this, too? (I forgot to mention that my site is a WP blog.)

Thanks, Ben. But, perhaps, I didn't explain this right. I will be using Aweber for the email capture/squeeze page.

I need to create a "membership"-type login feature so they won't need to use the squeeze page each month after they sign in.
