Here's how much Clickbank has made in 10 years

I was just thinking, if you want to know how much Clickbank has made in 10 years, it's right on their site. Assuming they get about 10% of every transaction - just take away a zero at the end of the counter on their home page and there's a rough estimate.

That's $137 million over 10 years or like $13.7 million a year on average.

Am I missing something in my oversimplified analysis?

Not that it matters how much they've made, I just find it interesting to compare the #1 digital product marketplace versus other businesses to get a feel for the industry.

How does that compare to other related online or offline businesses?

Ron, when you think about it, that's not really a lot of money. I am sure
there are individual IMers who are doing a couple million a year by
    themselves, at least.

I would have though that after 10 years they would have surpassed the
    $1 billion mark.

    Ron,
I knew they were making tons of money that's why when I see all the Clickbank conspiracies about them shaving 99.9% of peoples profits and all that, I say "why would they", they make enough as it is! Clickbank is great!

    You are very right, Steven.
In the scheme of things, it would actually fall into the classification of "small business" -- which, I believe, is considered to be anything under $50M/yr.

I thought it would be more also.

You can also add in $50 per vendor for the setup fee and the ad money from the marketplace but it still doesn't materially impact the ballpark total.

I guess they're doing well to just be a marketplace for other people's product ideas - but just not the large company that they're perceived to be.

I think that you are forgetting a big chunk that comes out of CBs revenues before they share it with publishers and affiliates. All of their revenue comes in from PayPal or credit cards and so around 2% to 3% of that 7.5% gets eaten up by the payment processor, so you are talking one quater to one third of their gross revenue.

It is still a hell of a lot more money than I make, but don't forget that there are operating expenses to contend with. I don't think they are crying too bad, but it isn't as good as the OP seemed to think.

I think Clickbank is doing well but I thought they are making more money than that. Calling Clickbank #1 digital product marketplace is not an overstatement considering the fact that Clickbank is doing better and more popular than Pay.com and the likes.

They're makin' much more than 13.7 million a year.

But it still isn't that much... they make good business, isn't it?...I wouldn't classify them as "big" though.

Transactionally they still aren't hurting. However, their database is the real worth.

If they were to sell it would go for a lot more than the profit multiple.

Yes, of course. From the OP post and thread title - it's just a very rough 10 year estimated gross total. I didn't even factor their 2-3% transaction fee expenses which would bring the total down as someone mentioned.

It's not a live stat but a very accurate estimate.

If you time it it looks like $10 every second.

This ties in with ClickBank's stats

      - The average ClickBank sale is $41. After ClickBank's deduction the payout to clients is about $37.

      - 24,000 sales a day. So one sale every 3.6 seconds

      $37 every 3.6 seconds --> $10 per second

      That's right.

In May 2007 ClickBank announced their first ever million dollar day.
      And the sales keep increasing

I read some blog posts from some VIPs who have visited the Clickbank Headquarters in Idaho. From what I read, Clickbank is a humble company that keeps its overall operations on the down low. I think if they keep their operating costs in check and keep their employees happy, they will be around for many years to come.

And as long as they are around, I will be with them. As a Clickbank vendor, I LOVE my Clickbank checks! : )

You could consider ClickBank as a small business, but it's all passive income...

They are not creating new products every day, they created a marketplace.
