I have been reading along with great interest with all the comments being made about SideWiki and its potential spamming opportunites and I thought I'd make a quik Wordpress plugin for Steve Diamonds great SideWiki-defeat javascript code.

All the plugin is a wrapper for Steve's code, so all thansk to him.
You can get the wordpress plugin I wrote at :

The BlueFartters are already starting to think of opportunities to use SideWiki.

I found this video on another forum, about using SideWiki for spamming :
http://www.superaffiliatestrategy.co...esidewiki.html

And most of you would have got the latest email from Howie Schwartz on how he plans to use SideWiki. (http://www.howiebonus.com/sidewiki.html)

So, with this in mind I put this plugin together to try and protect our treasured wordpress blog.

All I ask in return is that you give some feedback. Please don't hassle Steve is the plugin doesn't work, that all my fault.

Get the plugin at :

    Quote from Howie:

We may not see it, but Google ranks profiles just as it does web pages, as far as Sidewiki is concerned. Simply put, people who has higher profile ranks have better chances of having their comments appear on Sidewiki. Unfortunately, there is very little information available on the topic of how to "improve" one's profile rank. According to Google, there are no hard-and-fast rules (yet) on how to improve one's profile rank as they expect the system's ranking criteria to change (still) over time. Generally, for now, Google ranks profiles on the basis of what Google feels or considers to be "comprehensive". In other words, the more comprehensive a profile is, the higher it is ranked.

I'm starting to feel like the fat kid in gym class again.

So if I'm understanding Howie, if we have several gmail accounts and good profiles for each we could then go make comments on our own sites to push more search returns for our own site. But no link juice from google. Those *******s!

    They just created..........

    Reverse Spam!

Hmmm, anyone got a good proxy server?

Hi guys, Just a quick update.
Based on user feedback I have updated the plugin code.
Now it checks is the user has the GoogleToolbar installed, if not installed, then the plugin does do anything. Otherwise, its "does it thing".

Plus a few other minor bug fixes.

As always, you can get the plugin here :

Take care, and please keep those comments and suggestions coming.

      Downloaded and installed just fine.

Works by adding a huge random number to the address line on every refresh of every non-admin page.

Will this impact Google search listings? Hopefully it has no impact on Google or Bing or Yahoo....

      Great job guys...

SideWiki is the kind of product you want to warn your friends about and have protection against but then exploit the hell out of it.

Spent all day yesterday posting to websites that I think can benefit me and I've been very helpful to folks who read the posts. Of course I leave an anchor text linking back to my website but hopefully the reader, by then, wants more information.

I don't want someone, like me, posting to my websites and stealing away leads. But you play the game by the rules you are given. My websites are now protected from others posting things I have no editing ability over.

I secretly hope that a class-action stops SideWiki - Google is going to start to run AdWords at some point and make money from other people's Intellectual Property (Website name they own). SideWiki needs to have the ability of the website owner to ban it and participate in a 50/50 split of the AdWord/AdSense revenue stream if they allow Google to make money from their hard work.

It's one thing for the website owner to participate in adWords by including the code in the website, its another completely different story for Google to not ask permission to do so. We have the ability, on any website, to not allow indexing by search engines. We need that same ability with SideWiki...

Sadly this will probably take Congress getting involved in and muddy up the waters - just like they got involved with squatters with website names. Google is squatting on websites and this needs to be stopped; they never asked permission.
