Membership Sites - Are They Really That Lucrative?

I've been reading a lot about setting up a membership site. They seem to be a pretty little investment if you can get one rolling. Instead of dumping all the information all at once and users canceling after 3 months, it would make more sense to implement a drip system, where users get only so much content every week, month, whatever. Or so that's what I read. Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?

      Looks like it...

But the question of membership sites is a good one... I had a regular product with a one time charge and I kept adding to it and adding to it then decided to go the membership route 2 months ago at just $7 a month.

Recurring fees are already over $500/month.

At this rate, I'll be over $1,000 a month in 2 more months.

So - are they worth it? In my opinion, no question.

And get rid of the affiliate link in your signature.

Yes the question is good but with the intent of having his sig seen sort of devalues the entire thread ... So I did nto bother to answer the question, why bump a thread that has the only purpose of having an affiliate link seen...

    Hello,
there are many pros and cons to both systems.
I like the all you can eat and new content every month
to keep them coming back for more.
That is what I like to buy and that is what I give as well.

Whoops, honest mistake, I thought I checked the rules over. Guess not thoroughly enough, but anyway, link removed. Please continue if you have any more thoughts.

I am starting to think about this whole membership site thing as well.

The only negative about it that I can think of is that you generally need to write a lot more content and create a lot more videos.

Where is a one time buy product you can make it and be done with it.

With a membership site, it's almost like you have to create 2,3,4,5 different products to sell with your membership. So it will take you more time to make as well...

Have been thinking along those lines too. I have the flow all mapped out but trying to find a good, inexpencive script that can be linked to GetResponse to start testing ideas is not easy lol

Anyone know a good script that works with GR?

        Cheers
