Hi All, I am new to the whole internet marketing thing, and I am sure this is what I want to do. From what I learned, have a mailing list is very important and can make life easier and money come faster. Can anyone point me on the right direction as to how I should start building my list? Any suggestion and tips will be greatly appreciated. This is also my first post here... so please help me make it a successful one. Thank you. |

get an autoresponder account like Aweber and learn to use it. set up a landing page with a freebie give away. write articles that will get people to click on the link that leads them to the freebie giveaway page. That should do it. Oh - in your followup, you will have to pitch a product :-) |

Just curious, what types of free giveaways have worked? Like an e-book or an electronic "product" or something tangible?

there are TONS of free ebooks all over the itnernet that you can use. Just hype one up on a landing page and people will sign up to get it. by "hype one up", what I mean is detail the benefits the book will provide |

I wouldn't recommend using one of the many freebies already available online. Why would you want to offer the exact same thing someone else is offering? There are tons of possibilities as far as coming up with something original to offer your site visitors in order to get them on your list. What are the most common questions someone has about your product or service? Prepare an ereport or ebook, along with an audio of you answering these questions. | |

I would personally advise against writing an ebook or report at first if your brand new to this. Trying to write a report and people thinking they have to to get leads stops most people because the report can be daunting. I would suggest just a newsletter...7 day e-course on the topic you target. Writing a report can be a waste of time if no one wants it, so the best way to test and find out what people would be intrested in downloading to read, keep it as simple as possible, and eventually you'll have the confidence to write a report... because you really have to believe what your selling to people, even if it is a free report - otherwise people can "sense" your sorta faking it. With a newsletter, it gives you more freedom to make mistakes and learn what people want to read about in your niche |

Hi dbpmarketing, (and everyone else ;0) Let's back up for a moment... dbpmarketing, do you have a niche to market to? I certainly hope it's not the "The Make Money Online Niche". :0) If you do have a market to go after then building a list is pretty simple. And, in a way, it's the same path used to making money online (or off). 1. Find your market 2. Find the problems within that market 3. Create a product that solves that problem 4. Promote 5. Do It Again Ok, that's the very very short version but you should get the idea. It'll pretty much depend on who your market is that will give you the product to create. Just keep it simple. Good Luck with it, Fred |

OK different approach . Sign up to your competitions newsletters, freebies , or whatever . Find the things that you do not like about each one . Now take this flaw in your competitions approach and build on it , do it better. The things they do right copy to an extent but make sure "you" are not lost in the process. Too many people get excited about the product but never check out their competition. If you are selling the same apples it is hard to prove that your apples is better than the competition. Find a flaw in the way they are taking care of the customer or presenting their apples and you are on to something . This not only applies to the products we sell but to the give away . If they are giving away the compiled guide to picking the perfect apple , make your report the one secret that everyone must know to protect their families and themselves when picking the perfect apple . If you don't know the secret , look up one good one in the compiled book the competition is giving away . |

If you are totally new then I would not worry to much about building a list before you were real familiar with the Can-Spam Act and all of the risks/pitfalls of doing any email marketing. Quote:

For me Iv tried most of the autoresponders around and have had my best experience with Aweber, i recommend u try that, get a plan of action for all your subscribers, with all your promo emails ready, always be on the look out for ad swaps etc, for a squeeze page a very simple one, like frank kern has, i like them and they can be very effective, Best of luck |

You will need to learn a couple of things to start building a list or at least this is one way. You will have to learn how to build a squeeze page and put a autoresponder on it to build your list. A squeeze page is nothing more than a page you build to capture peoples information such as name and email by offering them a free report for example. The autoresponder is the actual tool that you set up on your squeeze page that captures that information. You can learn and see many examples of this being done on youtube.

I'm a newbie too and I'm not having much luck with my list building by giving away several free IM tools after people opt-in. Might be because these tools can be found elsewhere online if people search hard enough. Recently received an email from a guru that he started off checking out the forums of the niche he was interested in and finding out the niche's complaints/pains. Then he paid someone to create a simple application to solve some of these problems and got to a real good start in building his list. Apparently that freebie is still drawing in opt-ins for him after all these years (although did do some "upgrade" to it). I think that is a great idea, giving out your own "problem solver" instead of using something readily available. Though I've also been reading that free e-books on "how-to" are losing their apeal, so maybe an audio or video will do better. Above are just my (newbie) opinion. Anyway, all the best to you, dbpmarketing. |

Offer freebies. E-books, reports etc. Help them before you help yourself. That's the best advice I can give.

You have to know something before helping them. I suggest you to master in one area, it may be anything that people have problem about and give them usefull info. I really don't suggest you to build a list before you have something to offer which will help them in a way. Alican |
