Default Working amidst disaster...

Had a pm earlier that made me feel a tad humble.

Semmy is doing some work for me and pm'd me to apologise for not getting in touch with me earlier because his country is in the middle of an earthquake and power is sketchy.

You've got to admire someone who apologises for not getting back for reasons like that. Dedication or what.

It makes the problems I'm experiencing today very small. (Which they are in comparison).

I just wanted to say to all you guys out there in the Phillipines etc that many of us are thinking about you.

Philippines :: Oxfam GB#

UK link for aid disaster not sure what it is for other countries

Kim, had the same thing happen with Apraille - she apologised for not finishing my work but she had no power and is cleaning mud from her home. I have no doubt when she's ready to take on work I'll be getting in touch with her again.

Its crazy isn't it I was moaning this morning because of the traffic and yet there is people cleaning mud out of there homes... really does make you appreciate what you have got.

I hope that people do continue to help out the disaster hit places and that they can rebuild it quickly and try to live a normal life again

Its so bizarre to me that at the same time a Tsunami was hitting samoa and the pacific that there was literally a quake going on in sumatra...its give pause for those of us sitting at home in our nice safe houses (not that it cant happen here) for the less fortunate than ourselves.

BTW...Kudos for someone taking the time to email you during power outages and earthquakes...thats the sign of a true professional.

Cheers

If we would all take the time to look at people who have it so much worse
than we do (I won't even get into poor children laying in hospital beds with
horrible diseases and/or birth defects) we'd probably spend a lot less time
complaining when our coffee pot goes on the fritz or our web site goes
down for a day.

Perspective is a wonderful thing.

Hi Kim,
Yes it really bad in many parts of the world but particularly Phillipines. My poor VA had a couple of foot of unmentionable 'water' flood her family home and they had no power for 4 days. As you say she apologised which embarrassed me tbh. Her family and her safety are far more important than a slight delay in work.

In behalf of my countrymen I would like to thank you for sparing a thought for us.

Yes what happened was horrible. Yes the disaster took a lot of lives and yes the lives of the survivor are in danger of diseases. A few areas here are still flooded and I feel the pain and I pray for everyone.

But I have no doubt that once we are all back up you can expect nothing less than our dedication.

I thank you all and God bless.

Glad to hear that Semmy is well, except for power problems. I've done business with him and he's a good guy. Makes a lot of problems seem small.

My prayers go out to those in the Phillipines...

Slightly off topic, but I've been hearing many good things about outsourcing work to those in the phillipines. Anyone know of any good sources for this sort of thing?

I don't think you could go any further than this forum Gary.

Depends on what you want I guess

Lord let me remember this when I feel like things are closing in on me. Thank you. I could just cry right now. Don't think I've ever heard anything so blessed coming from something so horrid. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

and you see here the spirit not of survivors, but thrivers.

Those who see mud and make walls are the ones who see possibility and opportunity.

Those who say "I can" at this time are taking business away from those who say they can't. Yes, people have unfortunate circumstances. Rising above those circumstances is what makes winners and champions.

And donations still should be given to those for whom "opportunity" means finding shelter and food at this time.

For those who are in a position to help out...maybe a little consideration could be given to Aljiro's WSO that he is running to help his fellow countrymen. It's a very good deal & his intentions are most admirable...

If you can't help financially, maybe pass this along to your list or twitter followers....
