Default Email Marketing Question: Free Report or Mini Course?

I'm trying to build a list for my niche. I'm wondering which of the above works better? Also, how many days apart do you send your emails out?

Appreciate any feedback and advice.

my suggestion is a free eBook because it sounds like it's more than a "report" - even if the eBook is only 20 pages long.

And then send out an email a day for the first 3 days with excellent content and then go to 3 days apart and then later go to 4 days apart.

Even with emails going out 4 days apart, I still get unsubs and people saying "too many emails". Sometimes I wonder if I should space them 7 days apart but I am sure I'd still get whiners and moaners saying too many emails.

You'll find that he mini-course has a higher perceived value than
the ebook. "Ebook" is becoming a negative word. Everybody
has one.

You may also find your answer by studying what your bigger
competitors are doing in your niche.

You can also test to see which one gets a higher response.

Format the ebook into a mini-course or vice versa.

If you can make it a video or audio training somehow, that
will probably have more perceived value than your original
idea.

Why not use both? A combination of the two would surely increase the overall value.

You guys beat me to it.

Try both and see which pulls better. Set up 2 different autoresponder sequences--one that delivers the ebook and follow up messages, one that delivers the content inside the follow up messages--then track and go with your winner.

As far as how far apart each message should be, I get good results with the following:

--Immediate email upon signing up with a welcome message
--The first (and strongest) of your series the very next day
--Three days apart for the rest of the them

If you're interested, I did an entire video on this very same question (and several others related to email marketing and copywriting). You can find it in the YouTube link at the left. Oh, and it's FREE.

Alex Mandossian, Rich Schefren, Jeff Walker and more have hired me to write their emails. Want to discover my fail-safe “paint-by-numbers” email copywriting system? www.EmailCopyMadeEasy.com

Don't use the word E-Book... it's goind down as we speak. It seems more people don't like the sound of the word.

Give it another name... something that will atrack people toward it.

Maybe that is the case for you personally, but not sure if it is that way across the board.

If you are worried about using the actual term ebook, maybe you can use others such as:

* Document
* Word Doc
* Transcript
* Report

I think you get the picture.

You can make an ebook sound appealing without actually using the word "ebook"
by using power adjectives such as:

- EXCLUSIVE
- SHOCKING
- PRIVATE
- MY PERSONAL
- EYE OPENING
- and anything else like the above

It's not so much what you say, but HOW you say it.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm going to try out with a free report and subsequent email follow up. Btw, when you do start to introduce the affiliate product( I don't have my own product yet) you want to sell to your list? I've read mixed feelings on this one. Some say to hit it while it's hot - 1st or 2 email, while there is another school that says to wait up till 7 messages before pitching for a product. What are your thoughts?
