Domain name length - Question

Fellow warriors,

Is there a 'rule of thumb' for a maximum length to be considered for a domain name?

The reason I ask is that the long tail keyword I want to use is available but is 27 character long.

Would that be a problem or am I worried for nothing ?

    If you don't expect your visitors to return, just go with it. It will help you with your rankings on G. But if you expect them to come back again, I would go with a shorter domain.

    For best keyword "juice", title should be short, but up to 40 characters is fine. If possible the first word or words should be most important but 3 to 5 words total is good. Just be sure to use different page titles for each page of site (even if just variations of main keywords).

    You have a choice:

    Do you want a brandable domain name or not?
    Brandable = Shorter, cooler domain name
    Non brandable = anything goes
