Hi All...
Just wondering if https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en is the best way to create a site map.

Any thoughts on whether this is the way to go?

:-) Beaumont

Yes there should be 2 kinds of sitemap in your site:

    1. For search engines (google sitemaps)
    2. For humans (for ease of navigation)

I would second Michael's suggestion. I use the Google XML Sitemaps plugin for WordPress on every site or blog that I run.

It not only automatically creates and updates a sitemap for your blog or site, but it also submits it to Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Ask.

Checked it out. Very nice! Left a comment. While watching, I was thinking "transcript" and later discovered you make available the transcripts. Book marked!

      Thanks,

If you have a static website (i.e. not a blog which can auto-generate these sitemaps), and it's a fairly small site (i.e. doesn't have dozens of pages), you can use an XML sitemap generator such as:

    Cogah - XML Sitemap Generator

Then just save the resulting sitemap.xml file, upload it to your web space, and submit it via Webmaster tools.

Personally I use Sitemap Writer Pro, and I'd advise you to try it. I guess Sitemap Writer Pro is the best XML sitemap generator to stick with.
