In Snagit there is a text tool. Just grab your screen / crop to the size you want / click on the text tool - place your cursor where you want the text to appear and type url. With the text tool, you can choose your colour from the preset range or set your own colour.

Just look at the tools at the top of the Snagit screen.

Highbids, I just had a go myself and discovered something that I hadn't actually noticed before ... it may help ... but you might have already done it. Here goes ...

After I clicked on the text tool and placed the cursor over my image, I tried typing and nothing happened. I thought I had the same problem as you and then I realised that where the cursor was there was a cross hair sign i.e. a + This wasn't actually the cursor, but the marker for the corner of the text box. When I pressed the left mouse button and dragged the mouse, a text box appeared that I could then type in.

An easy mistake to make, maybe the same thing has happened to you. Check it out.

A simple way that wouldn't involve image editing would be to just set the image as the background image and then use html to print anything you want anywhere you want right on top of it.
