When uploading site files what folder do I put the files in. I'm uploading a salespage on someone elses hosting. Do I upload the files to public_html, public_ftp, cgi_bin, or do I start a new folder? Thanks |

If you want the public to see it, put it in "public_html".

| Thanks, Sodaware In the public_html folder there is another folder that is named cgi_bin folder. Should I put the files in the cgi_bin within the public_html folder or just in the public_html folder itself? |

| Leave the cgi_bin folder alone. Place your index.html file dirctly into the public_html. Then, place images and such in a new folder in public_html (I call mine "images").

Eric, it sounds like for your server its the public_html folder that will house your web site files. cgi_bin is meant for program like files that execute on the server. You need to be careful with cgi scripts since many old ones can cause serious security issues with your site. Good luck, --Jack |

Okay, I thought I had it. The index and images when on just fine when I put them in the publi_html folder. When I put the other pages such as contact and download page in the folder they are not visible on the web. I get Not Found The requested URL /affiliates was not found on this server. I had this site previously hosted on my servers no problem. I am just not familiar with uploading in this manner. If anyone can help me I would highly appreciate it. Thanks EDIT: Nevermind, I just figured it out. Thanks to everyone that helped me earlier. |
