As a South African, I'm forced to use an alternative to PayPal. At the moment, I'm using AlertPay. No problems yet, touch wood.

I've been using AlterPay.com for a few months, too, and they work just fine. The fees are a little higher than PayPal, but rumour has it they're more reliable and don't automatically take the buyer's side in regard to refunds. I haven't heard any complaints about them at least.

Your own merchant account would be the way to go.

You are not 'forced to use an alternative to paypal' Derrick.
You sh'ld be glad that you're NOT using it. What the heck... you sh'ld
see the number of marketers online who complain bitterly about it.
Then you'll truly be glad.

Olatunde.

thank you all for your replies.

i have checked out www.alertpay.com. indeed it looks pretty decent and pro.

i also found Click2Sell - Free Online Affiliate Marketing Programs Network - Sell Product Online yesterday. it looks good as well. looks like paypal is not the only processor we can use.
