Default Free Wi-Fi Coming to Border's

While this isn't strictly marketing, many of us wander off to cafe's, coffee shops and/or bookstores for either a break, a fresh perspective or, in the case of bookstores, to do a bit of niche research.

Just opened an email from Border's Books. At the bottom was a banner shouting out the message:

"FREE Wi-Fi at Border's! Come in. Log on. Coming This Month"

And no, I don't know exactly "when" this month. Or if there are weird or restrictive conditions. What I do know is every time I use my computer there, currently, it costs me three or four bucks.

Why not carry the computer, enjoy a cuppa and get some work done at the same time?

The Borders near me already started offering free wi-fi, which is fabulous.

I think it was a dumb move on their part to charge for it in the first place.

Why not offer it for free to tempt people to come in and sit for a while? It means they'll sell more coffee and goodies.

I often hang out at Borders with my computer. I use my wi-fi air card through my cell phone provider so I don't have to limit myself to visiting places that provide free wi-fi. The freedom is fabulous!

Cool! I wonder if this is coming all Borders or just yours locally?
