Hi everyone - I dont have experience with clickbank, so........ Could someone please explain the clickbank gravity score? what gravity score should I be seeing to know the product is a hotseller? and yes...I have read the info on clickbank - but it doesnt answer my questions! I am developing a new niche site and want to find some quality products to monetize the site with. So - how do I know that: a) it is a quality product? b) whether the product sells well? Thanks for your help in advance. Kym |

You'll only know if it's a quality product by looking at the sales page and buying the product for yourself. Not all hot sellers are quality products - some have a very high refund rate. I think anything above 100 gravity sells well (although will also have alot of competition). You should check out Make Money with ClickBank, Helping Affiliates to Make Money with ClickBank to find out how well products are selling - it tracks performance and you can also see the most requested products by affiliates. |

Gravity is an indication of how well a product is doing for affiliates over a period of time. It is based on the number of affiliates who were paid in the previous 8 weeks. It's a rather arbitrary number, but it does come in handy for comparing products. Another useful resource for finding ClickBank products is CBEngine |

Thanks.........so you are saying that anything with a gravity of over 100 is a good SELLER but not neccessarily a good product? Is there a way other than purchasing to know whether it is a good quality product? I dont want to promote crap! Kym |

Otherwise look out for other actual user comments online, especially in forums etc. Most affiliates don't give a true review as they're trying to sell the product (and many don't read the products they promote anyway).

And if you can show the vendor that you have the resources to be a useful affiliate you could ask for a free review copy. Harvey

You sh'ld be able to determine which products are of good quality to promote by finding out; 1. the gravity and 2. the refund rate. Gravity Gravity is an internal calculation done by Clickbank based on an algorithm that takes the number of affiliates making sales and the actual volume of sales over the past 8 week period. A high gravity either indicates that there are many affiliates making money promoting the product, or that the product is brand new and received a lot of hype. Do not base your decision on whether or not to promote a product solely on its gravity ranking…there are a lot of poor quality products with a high gravity(above 100)! Conversely, there are also a lot of high quality products with low gravity(less than 100). Refund Rate This is not given to you within Clickbank, but it is important to check out refund rates before you promote a product on Clickbank. Some products have as high as 35% refund rates and this wreaks havoc on your overall ROI. I suggest choosing a product that has a lower than 15% refund rate. Hope this helps. Olatunde.

Thankyou for this great info Harvey, Hamida and Livingcolors. So now all I need to know is if clickbank dont tell you the refund rate - how do you find the info you need? That makes good sense.....although it would be better to have a more precise set of marketing informations to make your judgement on....but for the mo I'll go with this! So where is the refund rate info found? Thankyou for your help Kym |

Keep in mind that anyone who sells more than one product from the same account will show incorrect refund rates if the products have different price points. There is no 100% certain way to determine refunds except to promote a product and see. |

| You're not, unless it's your product or you get a job at Clickbank. BTW, the easiest way to see which products are top sellers is to just look at the marketplace rankings. Gravity does not include sales from the product owner, so if you focus on gravity, you'll miss hot selling products that have few affiliates promoting them. |

Chris: That's what I am thinking. You have so many variables there... ie: product price change, change in affiliate payout percentage on the product etc. To many variables to get an accurate indication.

After you've promoted a variety of offers, you'll start to be able to tell which ones will convert better than others, although you'll still get surprised. It's funny how with clickbank a refund rate of 15% isn't even a shock. If I went to the bank and told my merchant account processor that I'm expecting a 15% chargeback rate, I'd probably get tossed from the room. |

Not sure how accurate it is, but CBEngine has started putting the refund rate on each product page.

working out a refund rate with all but the simplest product will not be accurate in the slightest for *lots* of reasons. Either buy it, or ask for a review copy. |
