Default Customers Say My ZIP Files are Corrupt

I've sold a small product that sells many times daily.
Occasionally I get a customer who says the ZIP file is corrupt.

I am sorry this is not quite related to marketing -- but I thought maybe some people have had similar problems and maybe have resolved this somehow.

I am quite confident the file is NOT corrupt, as most people never complain and it opens fine from multiple computers that I own.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hmmm I do run Vista....
But not the business edition..
Perhaps I should zip the files on my XP machine?

Are you opening the ones that already exist on your hard drive or are you downloading and opening the ones you've uploaded?

.zip files should be uploaded in binary mode and not ascii

Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem would be.

Is it possibly a version problem? If you've zipped your files with a newish version and your customer has a very old version, this can happen.

Good Luck,

Drew

I've bought products and when I try to unzip them with a particular zip utility they are corrupt.

Yet, if I unzip them with a different zip utility they work fine.

I have 3 zip utilities installed.

Pentazip
7zip
winzip

if your customer has trouble ask them what utility they are using and suggest they try a different one. It may work, it has quite a few times for me.

I've had customers complain about this too, every once in a while.

Often this tends to be down to a software issue on the customer's computer -- especially those who run Vista. Other times it can be down to one version of zip not opening a file zipped with another version of zip

It may be connection related. If the user cannot download the full file, they will get the "file corrupted" error. You may ask them to download again.. This may be the issue..

I had this problem once, I was using a zipping program to create my zip files and my client was getting a "file corrupt" message. When I started using the windows zip facility ( right click>send to>compressed(zip)folder) I had no more trouble.

Try zipping the files again with another zip utility. Usually when you zip your files with a higher version of WinZip, people with lower versions can't open it... I have had this before.

Or try making a .RAR version. I don't know about that though. Never experienced any issue.

Just what I was about to say, "It may be connection related. If the user cannot download the full file, they will get the "file corrupted" error. You may ask them to download again.. This may be the issue.."
