Default How much would you pay for a GREAT GREAT keyword? (no, this is not a sales pitch:-)

Hello Warriors!

A few hours ago I performed some keyword research with Micro Niche Finder. And here's what I found...

I stumbled upon a keyword that has 14,800 monthly searches at Google (yes, almost fifteen thousands!) and a very low strength of competition - only 43. This means that you could get a top 10 ranking almost guaranteed and a lot of traffic for that keyword.

This is a BUM marketer's heaven, I guess.

===== SIDEBAR =======

For those of you who are not familiar with keyword research and MNF, I'll say that there are two types of competition for any keyword:

1. "overall" competition, i.e. the total number of search results for that keyword

2. "real" or "direct" competition, given by the number of pages that are intentionally optimized for that keyword. This sort of competition is much more important to assess, because it shows your actual chances to rank well. The "Strength of Competition" (SOC) score at MNF measures the "real" competition. Any value under 50 (or equal to 50) is very good.

===== END SIDEBAR ======

I also did a manual search at Google to see for myself. And yes, it seems there are only
1-2 optimized results on the first page for the keyword in question.

And that's not all. In the same niche (a pretty competitive one) I also found...

* a keyword with 2900 searches and a SOC of only 43
* a keyword with 1900 searches and a SOC of only 25
* a whole bunch of keywords (about 30) with at least 250 monthly searches and SOC scores under 50. These keywords have over 15000 monthly searches in total!

Just imagine: a 30-page minisite or blog, optimized for those keywords, could get thousands of visitors monthly with very little work ("on autopilot", as many marketers would say).

Why am I writing this? Because I'm thinking about starting a service that deliver such
popular and easy-to-conquer keywords, on a weekly or monthly basis. I didn't set up the
details yet, it's only a project. Bit I'd be very glad to receive some feedback from you,
so I can know...

* if you are interested in principle in such a service
* how much you'd be willing to pay for, say, 10 lists of such keywords (in 10 different
niches)

I think it would be useful for the niche or BUM marketers who are very good at writing and
promoting, but don't have the time (or desire) to do the research themselves.

Of course, the number of customers (or members) would be pretty limited; otherwise, I would kill the goose that makes golden eggs.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a great day!

Bogdan

I don't know. I might try out such a service at the "initial asking price" or "introductory special offer price"(!) and see how I got on with a representative sample of it, before being able to decide how much it's probably worth to me. Sorry.

One of the considerations would be, How many other people are going to have access to this list?

As soon as other Internet marketers get their hands on it, that super hot "virgin" niche could get very intensely competitive if too many people know about it.

So the value to ME would depend on how many other people this information would be shared with, ie.

Just me = Very valuable to ME.

Me and 1,000 other IM'ers = not so valuable to ME

Id be quite interested so long as there was...

1. Potential buying volume in the selected niche
2. The list was exclusive to myself only
3. I would have access to preview the list first before committing to it.

Number 3 would be an issue I would suspect. Id hate to pay for a "great keyword list" only to find its rubbish after payment.

Just my $0.02

Sure. The commercial intention for the high-traffic keyword is not high: only 0.11. But I still think one could make some sales using a funnel strategy: offer some free info in the first place and then making an offer for a paid product.

On the other hand, I noticed that the maximum bid at Adwords for that keyword is $5.76. If the advertisers are willing to pay such amounts, it may be a profitable keyword.

I also checked at Clickbank for products in the niche. There are at least two, that sell pretty well (gravity 20 and 7, respectively) and pay $30+ per sale in commissions. So I think there are some commercial opportunities here.

Regards,

Bogdan

PS. Please excuse me for the delayed answer. The servers at MS AdCenter Labs seemed to be down during the last 4-5 hours.

As paul hancox said, if you are going to share this with hundreds/thousands of other IMers then it will become less valuable.

My suggestion is to limit each group to 25 members (just an example)...
then send these 25 members 5 lists every month...

Membership should sell good if you charge something like $9.99/month (or little bit higher)...

Then when you max the first group, start a SECOND group and send them DIFFERENT 5 lists of keywords every month...

Keep doing this till you max your ability to generate keyword lists.

I guess that by doing this you can continue growing your membership service while giving the best value to your subscribers.

My $0.02 as usual

I see. So you're suggesting that it should be the customers that indicate the niches they are interested in?

Thank you for your feedback!

I'm just kinda wondering why you aren't capitalizing on these keywords yourself?

I'd be interested in something like this, but like others have said, it depends on how many people you're sharing this with as well as the cost. I'd say a maximum of 10 is what I'd be willing to share the buy with.

I was expecting this question. :-))

Well, maybe I will. You see, I'm not a very good marketer; I'm more interested in research.

May I ask you... how much would you pay if you shared the keywords with 10 buyers? But if the list were only yours?...

Please forgive me for my insistence.

I don't know why you're asking in the main forum instead of doing your own research.

There are already quite a few Warriors who offer keyword research in the WSO section.

I know... but I dare say that my project is a bit different from other existing offers.

If you say so. I know of at least two right off the top of my head that are pretty much the same exact thing.

If you really feel that yours is different by all means go for it. Use it as your USP.

Not saying just because there is one kind of product in the WSO section there isn't room for more. Just saying I see some bones littered on the ground from similar types of offers and others who are still going strong.
