Is there a way to turn off the echeck choice in Paypal? I have looked but seems to be a choice on the side of the customer. Thanks. Jeannie |

Hmm.... generally giving more choices to your customers for ways to pay adds to your bottom line. What about the policy do you not like?

Yes, I think you can. I remember having a choice as to whether I wanted to accept echecks when I was creating a paypal button for one of my products.

ive tried in the past and i cant seem to but the bottom line is i will only get one sale every six months like this so it really doesnt matter to me. The echeque is often set by default by paypal if someone doesnt have a credit card as backup and not enough in their paypal account to cover it so the customer will very rarely realise. kind regards sam X |

It is a downloadable product, and I just got an order paid by echeck. I don't like it because they get the download and I don't get paid for more than a week. In addition, I have had an echeck payment not go through before, but they allready had the product. I deliver through dlguard, so have not made a paypal button. Jeannie |

Log into PayPal. Click the profile link. Click Payment Recieving Preferences. Near the bottom there will be a box to disable accepting echecks. |

You can, but instead of doing that, why not deliver your products via something like DLGuard? That way, the download link doesn't go out to the customer until the e-check clears. This way, you make more sales and you're protected against e-check fraud. It's a win-win. |

When the eCheck clears the bank, PayPal automatically sends another IPN which can then be processed automatically, as if they paid for the product at that time. If you find a PHP programmer, they can do this easily for you - and since it remains automated, it won't cause you more work. On the other hand, if you rarely receive them, then just turn them off - they tend to cause more problems then they're worth in my opinion.

Steven, I use dlguard. I had forgotten the download does not go out until the echeck clears. Thanks.

I can see why you choose to after that post. That said, I personally would test to see if the financial gain outweighed the possible negatives first but that's me.

I stopped accepting them too. I use EJunkie, which does not send the product until after the echeck has cleared, and people were so abusive about it! I didn't get a lot of echecks anyway, but whenever I did they inevitably came along with a nasty note calling me a scammer . . . I promised immediate download on my sales page, etc. It wasn't worth the aggravation, and the order process has been smooth since then. Maybe it costs me a sale here and there, but I've never had anyone write to ask why I don't accept echecks - they probably just wait until they have the funds available or don't order at all. Wendy |

I stopped accepting eChecks a couple of years ago after I got 3 "rubber" checks in a row. Don't have to worry about it any more. Pete |

I get an echeck every 45 days from an affiliate manager in London. I have no idea what it is I am promoting . Apparently it is coming from long forgotten articles I have written. I have tried to contact them but never get a reply . But the checks always range from $50 to $550 and in about a week they go into my pay pal balance . Guess you could say I kind of like e-checks :-) If you really want to get rid of them just go to your payment preferences in your profile and un-check |

I use DLG and it doesn't send out the goods until the echeck clears. Sometimes, I get a letter from a customer that wants to know why they haven't gotten their product. The biggest problem I am having is that Paypal often wants to let people have their money back with no argument if the product is downloaded. In those cases, there may be less refunds/abuse if I send the customer a cd in the mail. |

me too same thing. Customers wanting to know hey...where's my product...and what if i'm not sitting at the computer every time...they want it NOW...so I just unchecked that option too...i don't think too many people use that for me anyway. Sheila |
