Default How Do You Record A Webinar As the Host?

Hey Warriors,

I was wondering, do people who record their webinars do so with Camtasia and then post the video of it or do the services like GoToWebinar and such do that for you?

Just curious b/c I know Audio Acrobat has an embed function I've seen...trying to plan out how i will do this

Cheers,

Brad

I think this thread should be moved to review product, isn't it?
It will be more suitable there, won't they?

NO, it wouldn't be suitable to post there.

The OP is asking how to record a webinar!

I suggest you read the opening post before you make suggestions like this one again. Or aren't you sure of the difference between a webinar and a product?

Then again, you are new to the forum. Are you hoping to build your post count with posts like this one? If so, good luck.

Be sure to record it as standard WMV format though. They use a proprietary codec for one of their options, just be sure to choose the standard one.

Jeff, with Go2Webinar, do you know if can I upload my pre-recorded webinar, BUT include a live intro and ending? I want to be able to show the same recording as a "live" event 1/2/3 times each week w/o having to actually do the recording 3 times each week. But to make it somewhat live, I want to come on in the beginning with an intro and be available at the end for questions. Do you know if this is possible to mix live and a recording? Or anyone else know?

Thanks.

Hi Brad

It obviously depends on who your used to host your webinar but...I have used both Gotowebinar and Webex.

There is an ability to record your webinars on either of these but personally I prefer GotoWebinar because you can record direct to a .wmv file (despite the proprietary codecs - which are easy to get anyway).

If you going to record something to present or broadcast - then use Camtasia or something suitable software. I recommend recording the video and audio separately (so if you screw up one you don't ruin the other - not that I am saying you will) .

Quick tip is that if you going to present or even record set you screen resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower - this will it easier to read - esp if you decide to convert to a flash video or something.

cheers

Neil

Hey, thanks for the clear response. Just one question. Why wouldn't I just use the WMV file and embed it in the replay file?

Also, why would you record with camtasia at all if it's recording it within G2W? Just curious what you were trying to say in the 2nd part.

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Brad

Really late reply - sorry.

I should have been clearer. : ) You use the WMV file in G2W if you wanted to. I was just making the point about Camtasia in instances where you were not using G2W - for example your recorded a powerpoint by yourself to put on your site.

If you happy using G2W - go to it!

cheers

Hi,

I was just wondering what my options for recording a webinar that I'm hosting are if I'm using a Mac?... because from what I understand, G2W only allows you to record via their system if you are on a PC (I guess I could use my Dell laptop to record it, but my fear is that it will crap out on me in the middle of the webinar... LOL).

I could use Screenflow or Camtasia for Mac, but won't that only record MY voice, and not the voice of any other contributors on the webinar (I'll have other contributors on the webinar).

For instance, should I use Screenflow to record the video, Audio Acrobat to record the audio, and then splice the two together... or is there some easier solution altogether?

If you know of any simple solutions that allows me to do all of this much more easily with my Mac, please let me know.

Thanks,

Andy
