So let me get this right,
All I have to do if I want to rank for a keyword is email the site owners to remove their sites so that my site can move up the serps. WOW I never thought of that, now thats what I call thinking way outside the box, forget link wheels long live emails. lol

Actually, I'd write them back and ask:

A: How much will you pay me to remove my site? Or

B: How much will you pay me to buy my site? Or

C: How much will you pay me to rank you higher for the keyword blank blank blank?

Then point out options A-C would be much cheaper in cost compared to a lawyer to laugh in their face.

Also point out if this is their main business and they will be losing a lot of income it would be in their best interest to pay me accordingly.

Tell him something like - "Hey we see you are number 2 for this keyword. We are number 1 and we only want useless sites like ours to be on the first page of google. Please remove your site now so we can replace your #2 position with other useless sites from some other niche".

Seems it is a phenomena.

I have many top placed domains. Many with keywords that do not even appear in the top placed site. Some of the keywords used in Google are names of MLM companies and even though those keywords are not in the site, these companies send me threatening legal letters demanding that I take a particular site down because it is ranking on the same page as the company page.

This may sound silly but some of these law firms are serious even though their is no case law or legal positioning that comes close to justifying this.

But, it is going to get worse is my humble opinion. Where their is ignorance, greed and attorneys, you can expect disasters.

Other than that it still cracks me up.

Too funny! I really need this laugh.

I've also taken it to heart and explained to my orange cat that when the calico cat wants to sit on my lap, he has to get off because he's obviously taking up too much space and the calico cat is in much greater need of the lap.

The problem is that he doesn't quite seem to get it. He just looks at me and purrs, which is not exactly the result the calico cat was looking for. Guess I'll just have to make them read this thread.

Seems it is a phenomena. I have many top placed domains. Many with keywords that do not even appear in the top placed site. Some of the keywords used in Google are names of MLM companies and even though those keywords are not in the site, these companies send me threatening legal letters demanding that I take a particular site down because it is ranking on the same page as the company page. This may sound silly but some of these law firms are serious even though their is no case law or legal positioning that comes close to justifying this. But, it is going to get worse is my humble opinion. Where their is ignorance, greed and attorneys, you can expect disasters. Other than that it still cracks me up. Thomas Prendergast

I honestly can't believe that someone posted that. My philosophy, if you can't rank well, change your strategy, adapt but don't bully someone into moving aside just so that you can maintain your position. Obviously that person's not acquainted with the spirit of competition. Amazing, some people.
