Default EzineArticles is a Joke!

Or maybe they're just trying to be funny.

EA is definitely the best article submission directory for PR and traffic, so submitting articles with them is almost a must.. though I'm about to start looking for a better place.

I keep getting articles turned down for either recommending a product, and providing a link at the bottom, and encouraging people to click that link.

Or because I don't recommend a product, and instead tell them about another better product.

I write articles in the gaming industry, and there are some game addons that are out of date, and players should use the newer better ones.

But if I let readers know that, my articles aren't accepted. I thought content was king, but I guess that's only for my site?

I've had one account with them for about a year and a half, and I've got about 200 articles published on it, and I've never been updated to Platinum status. I always have articles that are "altered" or not accepted for really silly reasons.

So a few weeks ago I started a new account, published 10 articles which were all accepted, and I was immediately bumped to platinum status... SERIOUSLY?!

Does anyone else have similar problems with the EzineArticle Nazis? Do you think my account is on a "blacklist" or something?

Have you spoken directly to an editor at the company? I usually find that when you politely ask them what the problem is, you can enter a dialogue with them to overcome the issue.

Sometimes articles infringe on their TOS, and it can be just a slight change in the way to present and word them that can pass their review.

Other times, it can be a slack editor who was a little too hasty. I always speak to them first, and it usually works.

They've certainly tightened their policies over the past few months. I submitted a unique 1500 word article to them last month. The link in my resource box led to a site that sells products, but also has over 150 blog posts of unique content. They rejected the article because the link in my resource box was too commercial in nature. They did this despite accepting several shorter articles with the same resource box only a week previous.

Wow....

I haven't had any turned down for that reason. The link is your resource box was "too commercial"? That just doesn't make sense.

So, you know that you are in direct violation of their TOS by having more than one author account, right?

So, if you're not on a "blacklist" now, you soon could be.

ALTERNATE AUTHOR NAME:

We only allow one author membership account per human but you are allowed to have alternate author names under your account (such as a pen-name or if you are an author's assistant or manage articles for multiple different author's).

If you've got Platinum status now I'd run with it. No point looking back and studying the system.

Your articles look really good and offer some great info. Concentrate on the positives and less on the negatives. Until another article giant comes along, you'll have to play the game I'm affraid.

Well, there is perhaps one reason to stick around.

Meanwhile back at the ranch:

"You have run out of article submissions.

Your account will be reviewed for an upgrade when all currently submitted articles are reviewed by our editorial staff."

LOL, I was all gung ho to start banging in some articles and I've been waiting forever! Much easier to submit to other article directories - but I now want some eza love.

And yes, you can only have one account with them. I just went hunting to see if users are able to close their own accounts but could not find anything.

Click my banner. I dare ya.

You likely need to find your own formula that combines good content and effective business strategies for your websites. I do agree they are sticklers on things, but that is thier business model, which is obviously serving them well.

So well in fact, that you would have a much tougher time article marketing without them, so you should not walk away from at this point, instead finding an effective way to incorporate them into your marketing.

EZA is strict but that could be one of the reasons why Google is in love with them ... They maintain strict control over quality of articles that they approve and if you don't fall in line, they are quick to show you the door.. Like Nick suggested, it is best to ask their editors POLITELY about the problem.. They do reply but it may take some time... And since you have created another account, I suggest that you do not use your first account...

I wrote an article in the language market a couple of weeks ago... the article was a French lesson, but it got rejected for grammatical errors!

I explained that it was all about FRENCH verbs, and it has been accepted right away.

You just need to communicate with the editors, I find them to be nice and polite. Whenever an article is rejected, I contact them, and we always find a quick solution.

All the best,
Franck

Communication goes a long way with many places. It can certainly be frustrating at times but never hesitate to contact people to see what's up in situations like this.

I've had issues with EZA only twice:

1. Once, I'd submitted my article to GoArticles a couple of days before submitting it to EZA. Some guy copied my article and posted it on his blog, without attribution. EZA accused me of "stealing" his content. An email with a screenshot of my GoArticles account proved to them that I was, in fact, the original creator of the piece.

2. The second time, I'd written a geo-centric article without really mentioning anything about the city. Got in touch with an EZA editor (helps if you have a premium account. They answer within a couple of hours) who pointed out the mistake. Corrected it, and the article was accepted within 10 minutes.

They aren't really Nazis. They're just trying to maintain the quality of their sites. Just write good articles if you don't want to get into any trouble with them.

I ran into this one once. Had an article about Lake Tahoe rejected 5 times because "The title made a promise that the body didn't deliver".

I was floored. The article spoke about South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Heavenly Ski Resort, Harvey's Casino - all very specific to "Lake Tahoe".

When they finally responded to my query (after 10 days I might add). They kept insisting that might title mentioned Lake Tahoe, but my body didn't talk about it.

I finally realized that - being local to the area - all the things I talked about in the article were all a part of "Lake Tahoe". But the editor insisted that I hadn't - because I never mentioned the body of water with all the little fishies in it - the Lake itself!!

On one hand, I found this really funny. But on the other - having been an author at EZA for nearly 6 years, I found their heavy-handedness on this particular item to be galling. It was obvious that I knew the area and was writing about it, but one particular editor was adamant about holding up the absolute letter of the rule, instead of the spirit of it.

Isn't it intriguing how, like Google, EZA has become the 900lb beast that nobody can compete with?

hubpages, and ehow.com are way better in my opinion anyways. Try them out same page rank ezine and hubpages. Ehow is actually a pr 7 and I believe has a little higher alexa rating. And there's no waiting to get your articles published, or hub lol.

i got a few articles rejected and saying i need to contact them for further details, i take it was because i linked to a landing page for a clickbank product but when i went to log in earlier I see they deleted my account, for no reason, i said nothing bad in the articles. ezine can suck a nut. They aren't worth the trouble I go through with them.

I agree, it took me 4 articles to get a hub accepted on Hubpages. They're even a bigger pain in the @$$ than EZA.

EZA is really picky when it comes to obviously promotional articles. Sometimes they even reject things because, despite the fact that it's not in their TOS, it violates EZA's rules. For example, they do not accept articles about Article Spinners.

I almost never do product reviews on there anymore because they are so ify. Instead, I write articles around the features that a product offers and then leave the link in my resource box if they want to read up on the actual product. For example, instead of writing a review on the 3 Apple A Day Diet, I'll write something like "Why eating 3 apples a day can help you lose weight". The article is really a review on the diet, but I'm not blatantly saying it, so they don't care.

On the other hand, I've writen a couple of flat our reviews that have been accepted. As some have mentioned, they get a lot more lenient when you hit Platinum status.

about getting to Platinum...

If you start from scratch, and you're really careful, you only need those 10 articles and you got it.

But if you mess up even once, they make you basic plus, and give you another 25 articles to prove yourself.

And I find it can be much more challenging to have a perfect record for those 25. All it takes is an article on a topic they don't like, and you get another round of basic plus at the end...

So I figure that is what might have happened with Victor.

The thing is that I feel they ought to give more details and list ALL the topics they consider inappropriate.

I'm getting to have quite a bit of experience with them since I've been writing my own articles as well as writing and submitting articles for a number of clients.

I also agree that talking with them (by email) in a friendly and non-confrotational problem-solving mode, usually gets problems resolved.
