Ok so I got a little traffic yesterday on my site but i was looking at my stats and my bounce rate is 72% ! That doesnt sound good at all. I have an Opt-In box for a Free Mini Course in the middle of the page and a (Click Here) link to the sales page at the very top.. any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Whats a normal bounce rate? |

Did you follow the rules of AIDA? Do you have a headline that catches the attention of your visitor? Put yourself in the shoes of your visitor. If you reach a site that has nothing but a link to a salespage and an opt-in form, what are you going to do? The Back button seems like an easier choice, the opt-in form is too much work since they have to type their email address in it. A link which promises them nothing will mean nothing to them. So once again, if you have nothing to grab the attention of your visitor, they won't stay on there for long. |

I would say there is no such thing as a "normal bounce rate" - but if you want to lower yours, optimize your site for the USER. Be persuasive and convince them of the massive benefits they can get from simply typing their email address into the opt-in form.
