Default How do I install multiple WordPress blogs with Fantastico?

I want to set up several WordPress blogs -- all at the root level, not in sub-folders -- using Fantastico on a single Hostgator account. Is this a simple thing to do? Anyone know the steps?

Thanks,

Johnny

Yes! First you get the domains then set your name servers to point to hostgator. Then in your hostgator cpanel you click "add on domains" to add your additional domains. Then after that you go into fantastico and install the blogs at the root level of each site you have set up. You choose them from a drop down list first then if you don't add something like /blog and you leave that field blank it will install in the root folder. You will also choose your username and password there.

Then you go to:
yourdomain [dot] com/wp-admin and from there you can log into your blog and begin posting.

Hope I didn't leave anything out!

Someone more knowledgeable than me might have a different answer - but I can't see how you can do this. If you type in www.mysite.com, how would the server know which home/index page to display if you have more than one site installed in the root directory?

The usual way is to install one in the root directory and then others at www.mysite.com/blog, www.mysite.com/blog2 etc.

Edit - just seen mikeyman's reply (we cross posted). I guess I misunderstood you and you are looking to host more than one URL in a single hosting account?

Mike,

Thanks! I think the thing I was missing is to use "add on domains." So what you said makes sense.

Thanks again,

Johnny
