need help bad dragon voice recognition software . I just received my dragon 10 standard in the mail today. Prob my own fault but i thought ut was like every other software out there you could install with a normal cd drive. It is a DVD drive now i cannot install it! My computer is like a 3 yr old dell decent 2.8 ghz 1 gig ram pentium 4 processor. The prob is i do not have a dvd rom on this tower any suggestions to make this work? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!

You could try contacting Nuance and see if they have alternate install media.

I can't believe that people don't have a DVD reader drive on their computers these days.
I bought one nearly 3 years ago (for well under $1000, and it was a laptop.) that had a DVD WRITER, let alone DVD reader.

You SURE it doesn't have a DVD drive? I think there's even software that you can get that will enable a CD drive to read DVDs. Seems like a lot of trouble though.

If you have a desktop machine (I assume, since you say tower), buy an internal DVD drive. You can get them at NewEgg for a song practically. (Pretty sure, less than what you paid for DNS)

Or get an external one.

Or find a friend who has one, get an 8G USB key (you might only need a 4G Key) and copy the DVD to the USB Key (I think you can do that, not sure.) Then take the USB key back to your laptop.

If you tell me your computer doesnt have a USB port ... I dunno.

yeah im dissapointed it won't read compact disk. Im gonna call nuance tomorrow there closed now... Wanted to get it working tonight!

There's more stuff on the DVD than will fit on a CD.
