Email contains offer from friend of emailer

Receiving a marketing email from a marketer ( where the recipient has subscribed ), which contains an offer or freebie from a friend or business associate of the person sending the email (list holder) is of course nothing new.

However, over the last few days I have noticed a explosion in the number of such emails which I have received. Example "I have an free gift from my good friend xxx" and then a link which goes to a squeeze page (presumably to join the "friends" list).

I have no problem with this normally (take it or leave it - there is always the delete button), but the greatly increased number of such emails is now becoming a slightly annoying.

How many other warriors have noticed this?
Is this a piece of advice recently put out by a guru which has had the effect of causing the increase in such emails?
Any comments on this?

This is a form of ad swapping . You can find warriors that have a list of say 25,000

You have a list of 1500.

You agree to send out their ad and they send out your ad matching the number of emails you sent .

I think every mode of marketing comes in waves and recently adswaps are making a huge comeback and are gaining popularity.

I've noticed the increase in frequency too but have surprisingly found some really great quality offers, some of which I've found genuinely useful, the rest I delete.

If you find you're being bombarded, either let the list owner know or unsubscribe.

I never noticed it as list swapping.

I get emails that are generated on a 'Refer A Friend' page and they say something like:- "Your friend wants you to visit this website".

I always find Viralurl or Click2sell to be the affiliate prog behind it!
