They "give" but they won't take.

Is [name of marketer] Robin Hood, perchance?

LOL I've always found it amusing when getting the dont reply to email addresses etc...so much for developing a conversation with your list! It feels really impersonal when you get a message with a return address like that.

I'm on at least a couple of lists where the sender's name shows up in my Outlook as "Admin" or something similarly generic. That means I have to make a special effort just to figure out who the hell the email is from. Seems like it would be a small and simple detail that could make a huge difference in their response.

This is nothing new. There is no set or acceptable protocol for these type of things. Godaddy sends emails with the sender name 'offers'. And you dont know if it is godaddy or not. Paypal is several times worse than this.

It used to be that all the emails I got from Admin was an email telling me I had just made a commission.

I used to love seeing admin in the from field . Now so many use it that I am tempted not to open. I still do but I am tempted :-)

I hate the emails that state "you got a commission " and when you open they say ... wouldn't it be nice to get emails like this every day ?

I have been replying back lately with. I do get these every day and if you want to keep me on your list the next one you send better contain some freakin cash!

Of course most of the time the email is forwarded to a do not reply email lol

Yes -- I get plenty of mail from different "do-not-reply" addresses all the time too. What made this one extra amusing was the url!!

do-not-reply@REPLYTO[name of marketer].COM

IE: A whole separate domain name (supposedly entirely devoted to receiving feedback/replies), but with the mailbox name of "do-NOT-reply."

Not "congruent," that's for sure!

Cheers.

A lot of those are automatic. You'll install some script that automatically sends email as do-not-reply at the current domain, and there's no easy configuration option to set the sender.

Sometimes I get email from do-not-reply @ whatever with a reply-to field of something else. That's what I think is really funny. "Do not reply! But if you do, we'll send it to him."
