i am planning to launch my first ecommerce website this month, i am not sure if i have posted this on the correct thread. So after experiencing a lot of mistakes, failures, and so far am still the same lol so i also have learned my lessons and this time i am hoping that this project will work. I am sure a lot of you have become successful and achieve your goals in your own field of specialty. This month will be my first launch of my very own music ecommerce website. I am excited, at the same time, nervous, and kind of mixed up emotions where of course, fear and doubt sometimes creep up. Any advice how to prepare launching your project? any tips and guide from all of you here please? do i have to create an account on social networking sites like facebook even if the website is not yet launched? or should i start getting traffic? and submit to directories and of course social networking sites? please help. |

Congrats on the site. Don't doubt yourself, you've come this far. In order to give you advice on launching effectively, I'll need to know what niche (if any) in the music market you're targeting. Marketing sheet music is very different to marketing acoustic guitars. Regardless of niche, it will not hurt to have a Facebook, Myspace and Twitter account (among others). Since YouTube is heavily geared towards music and musicians I would suggest starting an account there and marketing. Again, I don't know what you're selling, but reaching musicians or consumers that like music can be relatively easy as there are many resources online geared towards them. |

Thank you for the encouragement. really need that. The website I am targeting is about marketing sheet music. Okay, so what I'll do is open an account on YouTube first, and also do video marketing for this? any suggestion how will I market a sheet music website on YouTube? how about on forums on this target niche?

Are you an expert of any kind in this field? That's where videos come in. Sheet music is a huge industry and if you can find webmasters with lyric and tab sites, you could do well. Is this an affiliate offer? If so, I'd stick with PPC and social networks. Twitter is probably your cheapest avenue. Build a huge list of music fans (use an automated tool to follow people) and post daily or set up an RSS feed, and promote your website.

Hi Akoni, Why not start by promoting in your local area? Maybe you can make an music event so the whole town know about your Ecommerce site, I do love music, especially playing guitar, are you sell any jackson guitar? or just music accessories? Cheers, Vaan |

here is the short video i created: let me know what you think. Also, i created a twitter account and started to follow others. Will use an automated tool this time, will follow your advice. the website is about to be launched some time this month either this week or next week, just a few things to prepare and things to do before it is actually launched. okay, i'll set up an RSS feed since i have not done that yet either. thank you.
