Default Should I Use Domain Forwarding Or Redirect?

I have a domain name with GoDaddy. I want to write articles and add my domain name at the end. When someone clicks on my domain name I want them to go directly to my affiliate link. Do I set that up with domain forwarding or a redirect? If I do a redirect, does GoDaddy have that or do I have to get webhosting to set it up?

Thanks

You can set up forwarding through GoDaddy's dashboard for your domain. No hosting necessary.

Yep, forwarding/redirecting is included with GoDaddy, but wouldn't it be better to do a CNAME change?

I use domain forwarding through Go Daddy and am very happy with it. It is also very easy to setup

You can forward - yes. But should you decide to promote a second product you will need to keep buying additional domains for each.

If you truly wish to just promote one product for the rest of your life by all means go for it.

You can do this easily, Elizabeth (though as Jill says, you'll need a domain-name for each product - but ".info" domain-names are only $0.99 each, I think, so that's not the end of the world).

The problems are that doing it this way, without a pre-sell site/blog first, (a) will really dramatically reduce the number of sales you make, and (b) will deny you the opportunity to build a list.

It's very easy to do, but it's not something I'd recommend at all.

Why wouldn't you just do this

<a href="http://www.mydomain.com/click.php?ARTICLEID=1&OFFER=12">MYDOMAIN.COM</a>

This way they only "see" the anchor text which denotes your site, but, you're still pulling valuable tracking info like the article that drew the traffic, plus disguising the affiliate link at the same time.

Ezine does not allow affiliate links. You have to link to an independent domain whether it is a redirect or a blog or actual site you own.

They will look at your links.

Yes, right now they are .89 cents on sale but here is what happens - after a year they will ask you for the full 10 bucks.

If you set up your own site you have the opportunity to capture names (thus getting possibly more than one sale from the spender) and if you do something like a blog lets say, you can link to different pages on your site that specifically discuss the particular offer in more detail. From there you can drop an affiliate link or try to pull them into your list with a free offer.

Thank you for all of the replies. My intention was to use my redirected domain name in my articles for CPA offers. However I didn't realize that ezine articles wouldn't allow that. I will have to re-think that.
