Video Marketers- Do You put Music in Your Videos?

INTERNET MARKETING

Do the video marketer's out there use background music in your videos? If so where do you get your music and what kind of music is appropriate as background music? Depends on the niche but I'm guessing ambient music wouldn't offend anyone.

Also, some people say music can distract your viewers but it depends on when it is inserted into the video, how loud it is, etc... I think it actually helps.

I use music in most of my videos, sometimes I make my own and use it.

And thankfully I know many unsigned artists who love their music being used in videos - at no cost to me.

Myspace is a good place to approach artists who are desperate for more exposure.

Commercial videos that rely more on slides with a message are what I like to use music on.

I have created video tutorials with a little intro diddy that fades in.

I have created some in garage band, and like Ginny Culps stuff - she can be found in the WSO area. She will give a full assortment of loops in a package that can be edited any number of ways or left as is. She will slip in a freebie every now and then too

You can also find public domain music.

I've used music from Digital Juice in the past. They have a few free songs as well. Garage Band is fun (I need more loops!) but time consuming.

There are lots of places to get free music, even for commercial purposes, and YES, I do use music in most of mine. I also write my own from time to time using Acid.

You can try Stock20.com

It's a site with great music and I love the music from
here. I believe you can get a free song when you join
from a referral link - otherwise, you'll have to buy it
yourself. (PM me if you'd like a free song)

Another site that I can recommend is Mike Stewart's
TwoBuckThemes.com

He's got some great music you can use.

One Warrior also offers music you can use.
Ginny Culp. You can get a big collection and help
her folks at timetohelpthemback.com

For other music, you can also do a quick search on
any search engine for royalty free stock music. It
doesn't have to cost a bajillion dollars to get some
music like from Digital Juice.

  I think it really is decided on a case by case basis with each project. Some music I believe sells the whole experience while with others a voice over is all thats needed. I have seen this site for royalty free music thats inexpensive:

  I use a lot of popular music in my videos and my YT subscribers seem to like recognizing songs they know too. Actually you can use a lot of pop music too if you are hosting your video on Youtube. In fact, the full iTunes library is available to you:

  I use intro, outro, and transition music clips in many of my videos - sales and tutorial. Using Audacity, it's easy to cut a short clip and then give it fade-in and fade-out.

music is good but it takes time and it can get complexed.

if you are goign to use music. i suggest to lay out the music 1st then edit video on top of it.

but its not necessary most of the time

Garageband is awesome to use if you have access to it. The sample beats are professional sounding, are easy to overlay to make a nice sounding backing track and best of all, it's all royalty free so you don't have to worry about licenses or artists hitting you up for royalties.

In my productions the soundtrack is what makes the videos turn out really great. Visuals are cool, but if they're in sync with music and effects, it's a whole different story.

You can get music from a bunch of stock music sites or custom works from elance. A good source for sfx is soundsnap (.com I think). They let you grab a couple of effects free before purchasing the membership.

Music can control the whole tempo and mood of a video
if used correctly. I think music is just as important as visual
effects and can make or break a decent video.

It all depends on what type of video your producing but
I think there is a place for music or sound in every production.
