Default New FTC Regulations For Online Marketers. Where Do I Find A Full Copy?

Hi Everyone, Sandy here...

I've been seeing references to new, very strict,
FTC regulations for online marketers.

This is a small part of it, but not everything.

(Quote from part of an email I just received from Net Marketer: Gary Ambrose)
"We can't talk about specific results, we can't use
income statements, and if we're getting paid for a
promotion of any kind ... we need to disclose it. "

But I can't seem to find to whole regulatory copy of it.

Can anybody help with this?

Thanks so much.
Sandy

Hi Sandy,

your best bet is to do a search on the forum and see what's there. Tons of threads have been started on this subject. The guidelines are very vague in my opinion, good luck.

These are NOT new regulations. They have been around for decades.

Well if you read it closer on their website - it is changed, so it is not around for decades.

" ... Under the revised Guides, advertisements that feature a consumer and convey his or her experience with a product or service as typical when that is not the case will be required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect. In contrast to the 1980 version of the Guides – which allowed advertisers to describe unusual results in a testimonial as long as they included a disclaimer such as “results not typical” – the revised Guides no longer contain this safe harbor. "

Guides, not regulations. There is a difference.

Ok tj and Steven,
Let's not quibble over words, such as:
Guides / Regulations...

Let's just agree that there are different aspects
to what the 1980 rules were.

They added some stuff to reflect the current market conditions.

So, be nice please.

All I was asking for is the locations
where I could read up on the "Changes."

Not sure what you mean. Elaborate?

When it comes to matters of law and legality, words and their meanings are very important.

I stand corrected and in no way meant to be negative.

Thanks for your elaborating the point you were trying to make.
