Default Please help, I'm desperate!

I feel really bad writing this, but I need HELP. I live in the country north of Montreal, Quebec, Ca. I have almost no work at the moment and no car. I have a mortgage and other bills to pay, I was living with my boyfriend, but it looks like he is about to or already has skipped the ship (goes off drinking and doesn't come back until god knows when. So that leaves me by myself now and I have no friends whatsoever!

I'm not trying to make everybody feel sorry for me, it' just the truth. And there are almost no jobs here.

I've been studying Internet Marketing for 2 years now, I started a wordpress blog in the IM area, but I put that on hold for the moment. I trying to follow the system of One Week Marketing and Bum Marketing (Travis Sago).

I'm almost finished a Squidoo Lens, looks pretty good, but still working on it. Plan on making 4 more lenses, articles, hubpages, etc. and linking them together. I would need to be making $150-$300 or more/week.

I also thought about data entry, but I know this is probably not a legitimate option. Are there ANY legitimate online data entry jobs? I have 20 yrs of computer experience (namely in data entry, Word, Excel among countless others and can get around on the computer very well). But, no I am not a website designer, only wordpress, starting to learn HTML and I'm not a graphic designer either.

And I'm SICK AND TIRED of working offline for other companies around here. I HATE the jobs around here, they all take you for a slave and pay almost no money, the last job I had, I was allowed 1 break in a 8 hour shift! That's illegal.

Sorry about the long post. Please somebody help me.

You might want to look into virtual assistant positions.

You can also look into elance or getafreelancer.

Is your wordpress blog self hosted? If so, you may want to put together a list of services you can offer on it, and add a link to that page in your signature here.

Orion7,

How much time do you have before you are cut off from everything? The "drop dead" date so to speak?

That gives us an idea of what you could accomplish in the time you have available.

Thanks for replying quickly,...AvenueGirl, where do I find these 'virtual assistant positions' domain names?

WineBuddy, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the 'drop dead' date. If you mean, before I lose everything, I still have a while to go, but it's still an emergency, I'm already behind on my bills.

Thanks.

I'd split your work / business time into 2 main areas.

1) Find work locally or online e.g. as per Jill's post - elance.com etc (temporary situation)

2) Start working on your longer term business in your 'spare' time

So what I'm saying is do whatever you can quickly to maintain things even if you have to take a temporary job locally, but really focus on building your business which you can launch in say 1-3 months depending how much time you have and how long it takes.

I would highly recommend you choose a subject that you really like and know a lot about. So it could be your hobby or a sport for example. There is money in almost any hobby or interest you can think of.

Choosing a niche like IM is going to be difficult as it is very competitive - it's much better to choose something you have experience in which you can pass on to others.

I think it's really important choose something that you can be really passionate about so that the products you create will reflect your passion and will be more successful for it.

The fact you have already got involved with learning IM, created a blog and had the courage to make this post shows that you're determined to change things - so don't give up even if things get tougher.

You know that the kind of money you need is realistically possible - so get your first idea up and running in a niche you really love and know a lot about and once you start making 3 or 4 sales a day you will have more than enough to get by. Keep going and you'll sell 10 - 15 product a day and the numbers will really add up and transform things for you.

By the way my recommendation to find traffic initially would be to find the equivalent of the Warrior Forum in your new niche and find contacts and JV partners there.

Best wishes - Dave

Becoming a VA (virtual assistant) might be an option but it's not quick money. if that's something you're interested, the best industry forum I've found is at virtualassistantforums.com.

The freelance sites mentioned are also good.

Can you get a roommate? Do you have stuff you can sell? Can you rent out your entire house to cover your bills and then move somewhere cheap?

Are you comfortable writing?

Perhaps creating an article WSO could be an option to earn some money in the "Warriors For Hire" section.

Selling any stuff you don't need on eBay could be another option, great to de-clutter your life as well as bring in some extra dollars.

Creating simple sites with templates and a digital product, BUM marketing traffic and links to it and then flipping it might be another idea. You can flip it here in the web sites for sale section.

I think a paying roommate is a great idea to replace the deadbeat ex.

Can you do offer other services like tutoring math?, English? French?, parents will pay good money for their kids to do well in school. Put up an ad in your local grocery store and library noticeboards.

How about a foreign exchange billet? When I worked for the government a woman in her 50's, poor thing had no income, she wasn't eligible for a pension and she had just lost her elderly father who was the sole source of her income. She cared for him in his last days and when he died, she had no more money because the allowance she received for caring for her father ceased upon his passing.

I convinced her to take in some foreign exchange students from Korea, she made some excellent money, got some much needed company and her billets loved their overseas experience. Something worth considering.

Check it out.

Hey thanks everybody for the kind responses, I'm touched!

I definitly have at least a couple of things I could sell. The squidoo lenses I was talking about are in another niche (not IM), so hopefully I'll have some success with that, I really would love to have somebody to communicate with on a PM for helping me in affiliate marketing venture, if possible.

I'm obsessed with the idea of succeeding online with my business.

Something is wrong. It used to be when someone with few posts asks for help they would be blasted out the door. This rash of kindness something new ?

Results not typical. The average new poster can expect 7 blasts, 2 smart remarks, and 1 offer of help.

Okay Orion girl, I won't give you a handout, but I'll try to give you a hand. First, you've got to stop the bleeding. Get rid of the boyfriend first. Find a roommate to share expenses.

PM me with your name and email address and I'll get you access to my membership site for free--no opt-in, no cost, no B.S. It will help you with your Squidoo lens and other blogs and a whole lot more.

If you want me to look at your lens, give me the URL and I'll give you some advice if you want.

You've got to get tough as nails. Think outside the box and identify your strengths and find a way to use them to get some immediate income. Sometimes being in a situation like you're in forces one to do things different and in the end life gets much better. Believe in yourself!

hahah that made me laugh.

That's one of the reasons i haven't made a thread babbling out my desperate story. Sometimes for newbies we need a kick up the backside, and definitely take action!

All very good advice in this thread.
I would add, definitely look at your strengths and offer a wso (or in other webmaster forums).

If you can't outlay $57 to post an offer in warriors for hire ($37 to become a member, plus $20 for the listing fee). I would suggest writing 500 word articles x30 selling on webmaster forums for $5each. That would give you your minimum of $150. You could then use part of that money raised to join war room, and post a wso/warriors for hire.

Wordpress Install service. PM me for rates and packages or what you need and we can work something out.

If you have a good grasp of the English language (you do), and can put finger to keyboard (you can), write articles. Some people will pay $10 an article that can get accepted into EzineArticles. Even if you can only produce 3 an hour at $6 a piece, wouldn't it be worth it?

Just advertise here on this forum. Also, keep posting and include a link in your signature for the service. Build up some regular clients.

As a virtual assistant, you would be competing against millions of people in third-world countries that will work for $3 an hour or LESS. If you're native tounge is English, you've got an advantage when it comes to writing articles.

Best of luck!

Our electric was shut off last week and we're hitting 30's at night. I'm making nothing on anything I have up, but I am almost finished with a niche membership site for expectant mothers that I am hoping to be able to sell. (www.storkmail.net) The electric company wants $2000 cash or credit card to turn us back on and I am desperately trying to make the money somehow. I could see my breath in my house this morning.

Any ideas? I am a really good web designer if anyone needs that!

Dont Canadians have Social Security? If you are out of a job then probably you could get sustenance from the government? That said, it seems to be more and more difficult to make money from internet marketing these days due to the competition - it is growing every day, prices are being undercut every so often.

k!
Why not write Articles on Associated Content?? You can make alot of money with AC if you are good writer, but if you can't write good articles, just find some student for another country to write articles for you,

I have good friend that focus on making money online through AC, in the first He write article himself, but after several month he outsource the articles by find some student in philiphine , he pays to the student each mont for the articles...

But the rest is up to you, just go to the ones you passionate about

Goodluck,

I'll second this. When I had a desperate situation a couple months ago, I started writing articles, and it's become a full-time income in a very short time... not to mention I've got a whole stack of products in the hopper that can bring in long-term results with a WSO, if I ever get around to writing them.

Hi Orion Girl,

Whats your article writing like? Theres an abundence of work for peple with a good grasp of English that can write with good solid grammar. It will also help you if you can churn out quality. If you know SEO and can specialise in SEO articles then this could be something you could start making money from straightaway.

Good luck!

Hi Orion7, hi fellow warriors,

I had no intension to make any posts in this thread, if it wasn’t for the ones form Scott Ames and designfuschion… I will quote the latter:

Quote:
…need a kick up the backside…
in order for you to
Quote:
definitely take action!
.

You said that you’ve been studying Internet Marketing for 2 years now, but you registered as a user in this forum only in March, this year (assuming that you have never used another nickname / account here)…

After two years, you have “a wordpress blog in the IM area, but … on hold for the moment” and an “almost finished a Squidoo Lens, looks pretty good, but still working on it”.

On top of all, you claim to be “obsessed with the idea of succeeding online with (your) business.”

I am sorry to have to say, but it seems you are not, which means that you most probable DO NOT actually believe in what you are doing.

You should have taken action – and even fail for a couple of times by now, because there are less chances to start something from scratch and get the winning ticket from your first call. No, I do not want YOU to fail and I do not wish you to fail, but let’s face it, similar things happened with all actual gurus from the scene. But what they did in order to get their black belt 7 dan in IM, was to learn from their mistakes, correct them and go forward.

So, on a long term, start believing in what you (should) do and finish what you started.

On the short term, especially with your financial issues, some ideas vehiculated here, with all respect to the contributors, are a dead end in your particular case.

Elance: as I knew it – but this could also have changed meanwhile - you will need to PAY a considerable amount of money just to register. Anyway, just registering there will not help because you have no “reputation” and so, I do not believe that you can easily get a project there. The same apply to oDesk (lack of reputation) but there you will also compete with all guys and gals from Far East, where they will gladly work for less the 3US$ per hour… And at last but not the least, in both Elance and oDesk, you will get paid AFTER completing the job, considering that you did a good one.

I agree with article writing and bookmarking (you can say MANUAL bookmarking, over a period of time, which is less spammy and avoids Google’s radar). In addition, you can subscribe the Angela’s link building service, especially because the first pack is free – and offer your service for MANUAL link building.

As an outside the box idea, find automation tools that offer a trial, but first get acquainted with the best practices regarding their usage, read the free documentation and when you consider to be ready, offer THAT kind of service for a fee. Once you get your first customer, take the trial and here you go. As an idea, take a look to SENuke, the upcoming EVO2, and so on, BUT please be sure you NOT ONLY know what you are doing BUT ALSO which are the best practices, otherwise you risk this thing to blow in your face!

About the automation topic only: you shall consider also another forum, because I think that WF is not really the “correct” one to start with such “automation” services. Far away from me to be disrespectful when I make this statement or the mentions of the following names and brands: WF is alike a Lexus, while digitalpoint is alike a Ford, so you would better go for the small and cheaper fish when and if you just start doing it... You will definitely get more money on WF, but the level of expectation is much higher, so unless you “master” what you are doing, don’t try it here.

On the other hand, article writing would be OK for both forums.

The nice thing with what I suggested here is that you MAY get money in advance, especially with bookmarking and link building, which are processes that TAKE TIME.

Anyway, whatever you chose to do, be sure that you understood in full how that particular things work.

I wish you a lot of success!

Try to think outside the box a little.

Go read this article I wrote entitled

"A Quick, Easy $2000 in Your Pocket by the Weekend!"

http://ezinearticles.com/?A-Quick,-Easy-$2,000-in-Your-Pocket-by-the-Weekend&id=1423937

In situations like yours you need to not only come up with the idea but also take massive and immediate action.

My first thought was the same as Scott Ames - oh no, another handout thread.

But this one is different in that the OP didn't ask for a handout in any shape or form. She asked for marketing advice - and that is what the WF is all about.

True, there was a sob story attached, but that's the reality of her life and I guess any one of us who found ourselves in a similar plight would find it hard to split the personal and business sides of our lives.

I've learned a useful lesson here: don't be so quick to judge.

To the OP: I'm surprised this hasn't been suggested already, but if you can afford it, joining the War Room here would be a great investment.

Roy, it seems that the actual "land of all possibilities" is Cyprus, which is good for you...! Unfortunately, in other areas the advertising is subject to strict regulations, fees and approvals from the local authority, which the closest one would be the district hall or even the city hall... Whoever would like to try it in his local area, should first check the local laws and regulations for such activities.

How about taking a look on craigslist.com and check what is going on in Montreal.
1. you could sell stuff you own
2. you could barter for ??????
3. you could look for a better roommate -- romantic or othewise
4. you could look under GIG, I see WRITING is a catagory there.
5. List yourself under SERVICES and see if you can get some date enty jobs.

I need money this coming week, so I am listing a few higher dollar physical items on Craigslist.

Internet Marketing should be your long term plan, but for short term money, Carigslist works for me.

I would agree with some of the other comments on this thread, look at becoming a Virtual Assistant. You have the skills aready that most marketers are looking for. Hire yourself out and see what happens.

I'm in agreement with a few others, who suggested that you start with becoming an article writer. Also, Adeel & Bobby have alot of neat things to offer you on the warrior forum, that would really help you out in the PLR or MLR. Can't hurt to ck out!
Best of Luck...

You said you have twenty years of computer experience and data entry.
You also said you have mastery of word, excel spreadsheets, etc.

Maybe you can create a package of sets of articles where you
present your twenty years of knowledge and experience
in an easily digestible series of articles to help those who
haven't learned those skills yet.

You may decide to look for free keyword software
to see what phrases and questions are being
searched the most by people online as pertains
to your area of expertise with the twenty years experience
and then make those your article titles.

That way, you know your articles are answering
questions people are looking for and solving
problems people are experiencing.

At that point, you can sell the private label rights
to those packs of articles for $x and sell some
as a warrior special offer.

Make it an insane low price so people who
need the content will be inclined to get it
and you'll have created your first wso.

There are no guarantees people will
want those articles/content, but you'll
never know until you try and with
the number of people who need content
and shop for wso's, if you do your best
to create quality, there's a good chance
you'll sell a few packs.

I'm not guaranteeing this will work for you
or work everytime or anything, but
a lot of people got their start doing
just that.

Hope this helps somewhat in your time
of need.

Get an idea which fills a need, build it quickly, put it on a free blogger blog, price it well, promote it on Twitter, Forums, indeed anywhere where you think it might sell.

If your product is good and you can demonstrate its value, you'll easily make $200 overnight.

A paltry sum maybe? but easy to do and you make sales in hours.

Excel would be a great topic. I suck at Excel. I know I could do a lot more with it, but I'm just lost. I'd probably buy something on that.

Wasn't this thread posted like um 2 and a half weeks ago??????? hhhmmm.

always concentrate on 1 ONE! project at a time
- but not several!
You may think: I'll do several projects at once
& if one doesn't work - then another will work just fine
-NO! that's wrong
because IF YOU HAVE SEVERAL PROJECTS at once -
it means you are not confident in any of them! and you don''t trust in any of them.
(из слов Юрия Мороза shsd.ru)
so, always concentrate on the only one project which is right for You. And don't stop until you succeed

Me to, exact same scenario and now I'm doing fine. It's slightly weird because we actually look a bit alike to CDarklock LOL

The important thing to remember about this situation, is that it can actually be turned to your advantage. I did, CDarklock and probably loads more people did to.

It's always when your backs to the wall, and failure just isn't an option that you really try your best. Come out swinging and you'll do fine.
