What free and paid press release distribution site would you recommend? Which one is good for SEO and allow links (free or at reasonable price)?

PRlog.org is really good as a free press release distribution source. The best part is that they can get first page Google ranking and stay up for some time.

I agreed. Recently I submit a PR to them and it was already on the 2nd page of Google within a week. From statistics on their website, there are at least 600 views on my press release so far.

John, check your local area for sites. CarolinaBusinessNews.com is a great local site in RTP. dbusinessnews is another site that has listings for around the top 50 markets in the US. BusinessJournals has issues in a variety of cities as well but its hard to get something in there unless you're doing at least a million in revenue a year.

As for paid sites I've found webwire.com is pretty good and less expensive than PRWeb. My last few PR have done well at webwire.

I have used PRWeb for many years with good success. Their prices have increased recently, but I think their results are good. I suppose we all have to decide for ourselves if the cost for a paid release is worth it. Being curious, I did a quick check and found an identical release listed a couple of weeks ago on both prweb.com and prlog.org. The prweb listing ranked slightly higher on Google as of today for a basic keyword search. PRWeb also offers some additional features like quotation sidebars, a web site preview embeded in the release, additional links, etc.

Paid press release services is no only to get Google first page. The services allow to distribute a press release to journalists of major media

I use Marketwire for my clients.

They give you lots of control and options for distribution and they're more affordable than many of the "big guys".

Since many of my clients are public companies we can distribute to the least expensive geography. (Because all we really care about is having the release show up on theit ticker/quote page)
