Am I missing something...

On twitter that is.

I admit I don't get on there very often, but when I do all I seem to see is a constant barrage of affiliate links in every tweet by some people. (Says me who just posted one).

I've just spent the last 10 minutes unfollowing those folks who seem to add nothing of value with whatever they have to say.

Twitter is just downright boring now, takes ages to get through all the crap.

    Kim, what I do is provide real value, links to articles and things that will
    actually help people.

    As a result, I have some loyal followers who read my blog, opt into my list
    and even become customers.

    If you use it right, it works.

      My best advice in regards to Twitter is two-fold..

      (1) An echo of everything Steven just said

      and

      (2) I only follow a very limited number of people...very limited. This prevents me from being bombarded with stuff I'm not really interested in. I follow those who provide me with real value, which is the same type of Twitter-er I aspire to be. Just because someone follows you, you are not obligated to follow them back.

    Steven is absolutely correct...just spamming affiliate links on twitter delivers NO value and people will simply start to ignore junk from that particular person. IMHO if you deliver real valuable information and articles over a period of time then you will build up a trust level with your followers and this in turn will reward you financially.

    Going for the quick buck never works in the long term.

    You know the score - you get what you follow.

    Follow morons and link spammers and that's what you'll see.

    Take a step back and follow all the same people you would like to talk to on forums, and see who they're talking to and follow them and just keep growing like that - you'll then end up with tons of interesting people and they'll also retweet your stuff to millions of others.

    You can't do this the quick and easy way (despite what many people will try and sell you).

      Yes your perfectly right Andy, I think whats happened is I had one of those apps in place where if someone follows you, you follow them back. I've stopped using it now.

      To be fair, after unfollowing a number of people last night I did end up with stuff that in a number of cases I could read with interest. (Yours included Steve)

      Darn spammers, they spoil it for everyone

        It's like peoples do marketing in twitter the wrong way by spam their twet with affiliate link,

        My suggestion is by see your good follower and see for peoples who follow Him,

        Good peoples always follow good peoples right??

        Just a tips to avoid those twitter spammer, I do hate those spammer especially the one who act like cute women and twet to invite us to their affiliate link..

    Steve makes a great point. As an owner of a large social network site I know what works and what doesnt. One of our members who has had massive success with doing things the "Right Way" has provided a great post about this.
