Where can I have my list analyzed for demographics?

What is a good company to submit my customer info to -- where I can get back a detailed demographic report of age, income, etc.

Also -- do these services also suggest the types of products these people have purchased?

Have you had a look at Quantcast.com?

It's free and it gives you a lot of detailed demographic information.

Yeah but do they have a list analysis service?

My site is too small to really get a solid feedback from their site analysis.

Thing is; (and yeah, I figured that's what you wanted); you're not gonna find a data crunching service like that easily.. esp. one that you can trust.

Also, unless you've already accumulated data such as age, sex, marital status etc.; your demographic segmentation will be pretty incomplete. That kinna information can't really be obtained through just a browser and an email address... well, it could but we're not gonna go there.

That's why I suggested surveymonkey.com; you can accumulate the data yourself.

If you DO find a data cruncher that you can trust to not sell your list(s), then you're gonna be paying a pretty penny.

    Anyway... good luck with that

Gotta agree with tecHead here, the easiest way is definitely to just survey them. You COULD find all of their information (normally) with just their email, but that's eStalking and kinda time wasteful.

    Oilman,

Do you realize how difficult that would be? You would have to take the email address, get a unique identifier, which technically is ILLEGAL(see CANSPAM and various laws regarding the securing of private info). You would THEN have to cross reference records against who knows what to get what you want. Apparently, creditors don't know my income, and it isn't on my creditor report. And what about DIFFERENT countries?

BESIDES, a LOT of people have FAKE email addresses. I used to have SEVERAL, and questions like yours make me want to get more.

    ::privacy concerns::

    shudder.

unfortunately, the horse really has left the barn, a long, long time ago.

(check out the wikipedia article -- I hope it's still there -- on Lotus Marketplace.)
BTW -- that reminds me -- what's happened on wikipedia. I swear they used to
have bios on all kinds of copywriters (e.g. John Caples) but last time I checked,
    seemed like nary a one.)

Cheapest (by far), most reliable, most trustworthy, and most under your control is to do your own surveys.

But DO be careful about how you create them. It's not just "I'll ask my list some questions." What questions are asked, how they are asked, and even the order they are asked in make a HUGE difference.
