Default I Need Advice on Starting A Paid Forum Membership

Hello All,

I'd like to get to some needed advice from Warriors on how best to create a paid forum membership site.

You see, I'd like to create a forum so that I can share some of the experience I have gathered (it's a specific strategy to follow). I also wanted to create a community of likeminded individuals, where using this specific strategy, we can lift each other up until they are making their initial financial goals.

I don't need a blog with it. Just a forum (like the Warrior Forum), where members pay a small monthly investment to remain active in the community.

I have heard that there is a way of integrated with Clickbank and allowing them to handle the member payments? What about those that cancel?

I have searched past threads, but still haven't gotten all of the answers (most threads focused on membership WP plugins and autoresponder delivered content).

The content is going to be a problem. I just need a little guidance on the technical aspects of setting up and running a paid forum (especially with payment processing and automatically handling member sign ups and cancellations(.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You could have a look at the 'Paid Subscriptions' section in the user manual for Vbulletin -
vBulletin Manual

You might find it does all you need, and it is *really* good, well-designed software.

As for using Clickbank, I was thinking more as a payment processor rather than for generating affiliate income (not at this point, anyway).

On another thread, someone mentioned how they use Clickbank to handle the payment processing aspect of theur forum (with the recurring charges option).

Wow, thank you so much for that tip! vBulletin may be enough for my needs. I couldn't gather from the manual how it handles when someone cancels their membership. Do I have to remove them manually, or does the script do that for me?

But I like the multiple payment processor options (CB not being one of them). It seems the only one that offers recurring payment charges is Paypal.

Would it be something like PPC-Coach? If so, I'm not sure, but I think they have aMember, vBulleting and iDev integrated.

Just be a little careful with VBulletin. It's powerful software, no doubt about it, but there's not all that much customization admins can do with it and their "support" is no support at all. You can end up spending hundreds just to get the functionality you need, which is why many VBulletin boards run with the default configuration (that boring blue).

I have doubt that people would like to pay first to join a new forum.I think first you should go for free option and after accumulating number of active members and growing credibility you can add that paid option and that should work more better.

vBulleting + Amember is the best combo to manage a forum paid membership.

KateD it's pretty simple to setup a paid subscription with vBulletin - I created a video visualizing how.

You can easily cancel subscriptions in the admin area.

I am responsible for working on expanding vBulletin’s affiliate marketing program through commission junction, helping to build out communication to customers through e-mail, vbulletin.com and other means, assisting in developing video walkthroughs on the product, managing social media presence, and providing general assistance with marketing and communications efforts.
