Hey there. My name is Kevin and while I an NOT new here, I have just been absent for a while, but I am back now and will try to stay more active! Anyway, I wanted to start a conversation abou t what we should be focused on when it comes to Social Media... And I think this will be most helpful for those starting out now trying to make money online... I know I wish I has a plan this simple... OK, so have you noticed that just about EVERYONE, in Internet or Network Marketing, using Social Media is always trying to SELL, SELL, SELL? Well have you EVER, even just once bought from any of these people? I know I haven't! So here's the point... We should all be trying to "BUILD OUR AUDIENCE". The problem with too many, unfortunately, is they are CHASING THE MONEY, the way a "drug attic" chases a high. Always chasing the dream, so they buy a some "Internet Marketing" course that will, "REALLY" this time, show them how to make CRAZY AMOUNTS OF MONEY... And they think for about 15 minutes what their life will be like when they are rich and then they do nothing... OR, DO EVERYTHING BUT THE WRONG WAY... And say "nothing works". But think about this... What if you just STOPPED right now trying to make money... Yeah I know it sounds "looney" but hear me out... ...STOP trying to make money and just try "MAKING FRIENDS!" Building an audience of thousand's of people that KNOW, LIKE & TRUST YOU! These could be people on Twitter, Facebook, or any other channel... That you will be able to FUNNEL ANYWHERE YOU WANT... HERE'S THE KEYPOINT... "ONE DAY SOON!" And you kept growing that audience.... DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD EVER HAVE A PROBLEM SELLING SOMETHING EVER AGAIN? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Think "Oprah" without the paparazzi. Or, if you hate the spotlight like me, think of it like being the "Concierge" at a high class hotel with all the "hook ups". So that the solution BUT the problem is you will NEVER have an audience that big if all you do is SELL, SELL, SELL! And its NOT just about the numbers but instead is about the relationship you have with the people that make up those numbers. So to wrap this up and bring it home... FORGET ABOUT MAKING MONEY! BUILD YOUR AUDIENCE AND THEN YOU CAN SELL THINGS IN EVERY MARKET/NICHE AND YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST DOING IT! HINT:: I added more followers yesterday on Twitter then I do using "Automated Tools"... JUST BY by tweeting cool stuff. And my Twitter is setup to automatically update my Facebook. And yesterday I had a total of more comments on my "status updates" yesterday, then I have had since I opened this account 3 weeks ago (yeah I have had an account longer BUT I screwed up when FB let's us do the whole "unique url" thing on the wrong account... >>>TANGENT SORRY!). Now, for the people who have that "tweet" that runs all day long about "BUY MY STUFF OR BUY THIS PERSONS STUFF"... Please don't go out there and find 3 funny things and add it to your rotation. This does NOT work unless you RESPOND & INTERACT with your audience. But I can tell you this... Once you have your audience you will never have to SELL, SELL , SELL again! Thats my 2 cents for today... Social Media is starting to grow on me and once I decided to say "screw making money for now"... I ACTUALLY STARTED MAKING 5x THE MONEY from my Social Medai efforts!... lol I hope this helps someone out there and if you have any thoughts I would love o hear em'... Again I love the Warrior Forum and I sure learned a lot from you guys when I was getting started and I'm pumped at coming back now that I have such a deep understanding for how everything works now... So now I can wrap with you guys that were way over my head and probably still are but at lest I will know what you mean... lol Kindest Regards, Kevin DaSilva P.S. If you STOP trying to make money for now, and first build your audience... Then you can now build that audience in a market of people that you actually have something in common with vs. trying to sell the same things to the IM crowd that every other person is pushing. Just find cool people that are like you, build a relationship and then once you have a great relationship go join affiliate programs for the stuff you think this audience will like... AND BOOM YOUR MAKING MONEY BY TALKING ABOUT STUFF YOU LOVE AND TALKED ABOUT ALL THE TIME ANYWAY! |

Whats up Alexa? For sure, we are agreed about selling them what THEY ALREADY WANT! And that having to persuade is possible tbut takes a lot of skill and effort. BUT if you have a relationship with your audience and you say "check this out"... Most of them will probably "check it out!" |

I agree with not trying to sell something straight out of the gate. Since there are a lot of scams on the Internet a lot of people will not buy when they first go to your website unless they have to predisposed (excuse the spelling if I spelled predisposed wrong LOL) through a friend's recommendation. People will only buy from a friend or expert so it's better to be in both positions. Become a friend first and then should them that your a expert in what they are interested in. Once there skepticism is gone it will be far more easier to sell them a product then just trying to sell straight off the bat. But you have to sell them something small first. This way you test to see what their spending limitations are. There is no point in selling a $97 product when the person won't buy a product for $7.

I will have to admit that I started making more money when I stopped trying to sell to others and started becoming a valuable asset to others. When I stopped focusing on the money and started focusing on how I could help others, that is when I started seeing more results.

Both ways work if you can figure out the right niche. Oprah built up a fan base with the right content for her audience. But she doesn't do it one off on places like Facebook and Twitter. It is too exhausting. She did it by producing a TV show and magazines, which reached millions of viewers with one product packaged with commercials. Of course, she now has Facebook and Twitter followers, but she has a staff to watch over that aspect. Making and keeping friends is a 24 hour job which is why I gave up. On the other hand, flat out infomercials do work, but the idea has to be original and the pitch has to be just right. Even if it has been done thousands of times like weight loss. But the pitch and the pitch person has to be just right. Rich |

If you are on the social networks and around social media... you must be following the wrong people if they are always trying to "SELL, SELL, SELL" My peeps don't seem to be like that Peace Jay |

Hey Guys, Yeah exactly what I meant. Of course we have to sell them something, so I guess its more of a "mindset" shift more than anything. And Rich, infomercials do work BUT when someone is watching a informercial they are only watching that one... Unlike on Twitter where you have 100 at a time.. But its the funny quote, awesome post or something like that is now getting all the attention. And Taylor, I am having the same experience. Actually, it was when I started with the funny stuff, the "make your office better stuff" and more that people start really becoming "friends" and then BOOM you put a link to a product and not only do they buy but they are hitting you up with commenst like.... "I just bought mine kevin" It's awesome! And like you said Don then we take them from a $7 to a $97 and thats when you can start "segmenting" them into lists. Another way to sum up what I am trying to get at hear is rather you be the "signer" or the "radio station?" You can be the "singer" who comes out with a "hit song" now & then and before you know it your a "has-been". Or you can be the station with the audience and now all the singers are kissing you "bass" for you to mention them to your "audience". And you promote 15 singers a day while the singer has to always be creating new songs! Honestly, I am starting to think I much rather have someone as a "Facebook Fan" then on my mailing list. On Facebook you can communicate with your audience 30 times a day and the deliverability rate is 100%! You can't beat that! Thanks for the awesome replies guys (and girls)... ~Kevin |

Kevin, great post. I have always believed in the power of building relationships over just sell, sell, sell. We live in a world where trust is hard to come by. Because of that, people are going to think twice about buying your products. So, if you take the time to actually give them info they can use or even answer their questions, it goes a long way. A simple thank you just wouldn't have been good enough for your post. Glad to have you back. |

Hey Steven, Wow I am truly humbled by your remarks... And its comments like yours this an awesome forum. Thanks! Honestly, I think that just trying to REALLY be friends with and building an audience is so much EASIER AND MORE PROFITABLE then trying to be the "expert" nowadays. Have you noticed that EVERYONE is an expert now? lol So maybe now instead of trying to be the "expert" we can just sit back, build an audience in whatever market your feel comfortable in and then pick the experts to promote. And in the meantime use your stuff to keep growing and building that BOND with your audience! And being that I just came back and just spending some time in other posts I am starting to realize that most of you are already experts and have your crowd, in which case this obviously doesn't really apply. I forgot how advanced everyone in here is... lol But for the people just getting started this would be a much easier and I believe a more profitable path... Then having to be the expert, while building freelines, squeeze pages and you know the rest. But again thanks so much for the welcome back and I look forward to many more discussions with you. Kindest Regards, Kevin DaSilva |

Kevin Whilst I agree its a nice thing to make friends, in fact in itself it can be fulfiling! I sort of agree with Alexa. Aren't you just saying that you want to be their friend so that later you can profit from them? I know its a fine line, I also realise that people will be more likely to buy from those they trust, but unless you are truly altruistic don't you think that it may just be stringing out the sales process. Do you really want to be writing and empathising with a list of 100,000 'friends'? Mmmm good thought provoking question though! Bobby |

I'd rather be like Kevin Harrington than Billy Mays.
