Why thePlanet.com is more expensive then hostGator.com?

I am trying to move to a new host and I have read here several times that hostgator is a reseller for theplanet.com (and that thePlanet.com is cheaper), but when I check prices it seems like the a dedicated server on planet is much more expensive then hostgator.

Am I missing something? Should I go with virtual server? can anybody recommend somebody?

I'm a very big fan of @liquidweb if you're looking for a dedicated server. I have multiple servers with them and everything really runs without a hitch.

One time I needed support on Christmas Day and it was no issue whatsoever. Someone on the phone helped me out and away I went for Christmas Cookies.

It's probably the volume discount they get...

You need to look for the deals. I think they still have a page with weekly deals, which are really cheap.

I have a server with them and they send me a weekly email with the deals. Sorry, but I've deleted them recently. I'll try to post next time they send one.
