Hey Everyone. I have been knocking my head doing lot's of different promoting campaigns for a couple of my WP sites and have gotten NO RESULTS! Asked someone why these sites have been ignored by google.
Unbenounced to me... he took a look and got back with me. Here is some code he found in source view;

<meta name='robots' content='noindex,nofollow' />

Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what this code is telling the search engines to do.. now does it.
My problem is that these are WP platforms and I do not know where to change the code..How to change the code..or what to replace the code with

Can you please help a starving ..but very hard working internet journeyman with this. I could sure use it!

    Just go into your settings and go to privacy and make sure it is not set to stop the search engines.

      That was it.Thanks Quentin. Some of the templates must come with that set like that huh? I changed it to allow the search engines and will see what happens. But it was set WRONG. We never stop learning do we?
      Thanks Again

        Not really.

        That's the default setting for a newly installed blog and has nothing to do with themes (not templates!). It is in WP, not in the themes.

        Actually, for a new blog under construction and test posts (including the famous Hello, World!) it is quite useful: search engines will not index your test posts and half-ready blog.

    Actually, Pension Guy, that's not true either. Yes you are right about the settings but not about the default test post. I've lit up sites using a trick and was listed on page one of google in about two weeks for my primary keyword. So, yes you can be indexed and ranked by google. Part of the reason I use wordpress the way I do. It can really help you to be noticed by the engines.

    Frank, you should read more carefully.
    I've said that when the privacy option is set to block the search engines, no post will be indexed.

    Which part is not true in the statement above?

      This part:

      To be honest, I was surprised to find my hello world post ranked on page one on a couple of blogs that I loaded but didn't get back to for a couple of weeks.

        When installing Wordpress manually, the dialog will ask you if you want your blog indexed by the search engines - that's when the setting is made.

        Don't know about using Fantastico to install it tho - never used it. It may be the default then.

        If your not sure go to "settings/privacy" in your admin panel, and change it from there. No need to get into the code.
