Default Bonus Overkill

When I first started Internet marketing I used to add way too many bonuses to try and entice sales but now I know that adding too many bonuses to a product is most of the time not good, and can quickly devalue the product. I still have those products out there - one product has 54 bonus items must start reducing this.

How many bonuses have you added to your products to try and get the sale?
Surely not more than 54???

One or two high quality bonuses.

That's it.

I've used to add two at most. I agree that to much bonuses devalue the main product..currently I'm offering bonuses to affiliates

I think the most bonuses I offer is 4 on some of my sites. 54 sounds like a lot. What are your bonuses? Are they ebooks?

Unless the bonuses are top quality (and even then), too many
will kill interest

Most have finally reached information overload with a hard drive full
of ebooks and reports they will never read.

If sellers built up more value in the product instead of cheaping out
with a ton of crap bonuses, we would all be better off.

The bonuses are ebooks, videos, softwares and audios - looking at it now it's 52 bonus items

What's the link for that product? I might want to check out all those bonuses

By way of feedback though... If the bonuses are really good and not available in another way, you might even get the occasional buyer who actually gets yourproduct because they HAVE to have the bonus. But 52 is indeed overkill and will distract people from what they were trying to buy in the first place.

54?!?!!?

I actually don't like bonuses at all and find them off-putting.

If I want a product and it has tonnes of bonuses I won't buy it. Seems like too much effort to buy it get given tonnes of crap that I have to delete lol.

I won't be put off by 1 or 2 bonuses that look like they could help me out, but generally even that annoys me.

The bonuses are available from other sources but the idea at the time was to provide a complete "everything you'll ever need" package on web site traffic, that would save people time searching for those single items. The original product is a freely available master resale rights product but with a 52 bonus item bundle

With my first product launch I considered going with lots of bonuses. I settled for adding 2 bonuses that could be used in conjunction with my product.
I don't think I'd be put off by that many bonuses but I know that I'd never get through all of them. Sometimes less is more.

I agree with your new strategy. Fewer, higher quality bonuses.

Here is what I do. I offer some sales products at a given price, then as I add new products, I begin offering the previous products as bonuses on the new products.

I don't even know if that makes sense or not.

but it seems to be working for me.

It is not hard to learn how to write 10,20 or even 30 articles a week

I don't like a lot of bonuses either, especially if they're not targeted to supplement the initial product and I see them available all over the place. It makes me think the product owner isn't confident in his product - "Well, if you don't like my product, here's 54 bonuses you might like."

Bonuses should at the very least be...
  • Quality: It should be good enough that you could SELL it as a stand alone product/service
  • Relevant: It should gel with your main product. For example, a report (or video, etc.) about finding profitable niches as a bonus to your "How To Make Money In Affiliate Marketing" type product. Rather than a create your own product type report. If someone wanted to learn how to make their own products, they probably wouldn't be considering your affiliate marketing training offer.
  • Exclusive: Not the same resell/giveaway rights ebooks, etc. that everyone else is using. You can use PLR material, but make significant changes so it doesn't resemble the original. Whatever you offer as a bonus, make sure it is something they can't get elsewhere.
If you cover those 3 bases, a single bonus can get results. And you should never need to offer more than a few.

All these bonus item are relevant and are all related to the main product which is website traffic generation - but still, 52 is way too many
