on travis sago's bum marketing site it says "Only 613 results...HOLY COW...I guarantee that if you wrote an article, ad or message on "how to train your dog to stop barking"...depending on where you post it to...you are going to show up on the first page of Google within 2 days to 2 weeks...for FREE" i'm a complete newbie so this probably has a really obvious answer, but what exactly changes during the 2 weeks to make your article go onto the first page when it wasn't beforehand? |

Your article with that keyword added into the SE database. That's what changed.

depending where you post it to. I know e-zine takes a while before articles get approved.

so to be clear, in travis' bum marketing, i'm not required to be creating backlinks to my articles? and no one else needs to either? my article will just appear on the first page of google as soon as it is added to the database because the title is targetted to a search phrase with a small number of optimized results? i feel like it can't be this easy and that i'm missing something.

It depends on your keywords, an article is no different than any other page on any website. it's just that good article directories have high page rank, millions of backlinks (not to your page obviously, but it still helps) and are in dmoz and yahoo directories (many of them at least) as such an article on EA will rank higher than if you posted it on a bran new site/blog. However keywords and competition is what determines if you will be on page one or not and how much work you'll have to do to get there. If you are targeting "play poker" you will probably never see your article on page 1 (unless you link build the crap out of it for years) where as a keyword with low competition allows you to rank on page 1 just on the strenght of the article directory and keyword optimization of your article. Also, google may not find your article right away (and some directories take a bit to get an article approved and published) |

But its always good policy to social book mark everything you do. webpages, videos, articles. which is the bread and butter of distributing your stuff

Internet Marketing is a process, not an one day success miracle. Two weeks is short enough a period of time to get to the front pages of the big gorilla Google. Be patient, you will see the results in about a month's time.

To show up on the first page of Google isn't so difficult. To show up there for search terms that measurable numbers of people are actually looking for is a different matter.

Search engines love article sites. In fact they love them so much they crawl them about every 6 hours or so for new content. When you post an article and add your SEO keywords to the article and a link to your site the search engines will pick that up and index that article for those keywords within 48 hours. The trick is to use keywords that are not indexed as much. If you pick a keyword that has tens of millions of indexed pages it will not likely move to the top that quick, however if you pick a keyword that has just a million or less indexed pages, your chances of being near the top or even number 1 are greatly increased. And that can all happen within 48 hours or less in most cases. |
