My own theory, I don't know if it's sound. But based on my own experience, the tease as I call it can cause refunds. The tease is copy that hints at what is contained in the info product but doesn't reveal it. "This is a method that can make you $5,000 a month without a site, without PPC, without a brain" "Its so simple a child could do it" etc. Once the customer buys they find its information on selling something on eBay or something they have been doing or have known all along. It was just the tease that made them curious enough to buy. I've done it. I just had to know the "secret method". That said, the tease can make sales. A lot of sales will stick because people are either lazy or loth to ask for a refund. I wonder though, if they were disappointed they may not be quick to buy your next product. |

This is absolutely true. If you don't reveal exactly what they are getting, they might have thought they were getting something else and be disappointed.

Great point Scott, I agree with that! Im all for telling people exactly what my offer and product is, beating around the bush and doing as you said above puts me off buying! I see this in loads of WSOs and then the WSO is filled with comments of people asking "What is it?" I bet this stops many people buying! It does me anyway! GoGetta |

Yeah I've seen similar products hit the market ("So easy a 10-year old can do it, Make $100/day"). Disappointing when it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

It's a tricky balance. You want to show something to attract people and show them how good the product is, but at the same time you need to make them a little curious or even intrigued about it and you don't want to give them everything, so you need to keep some secret too. I personally think the best ways to resolve this are by picking one part of the product to show or show an overview of the product. It depends on the product too...

Playing Devils Advocate Here ![]() O.k. let say the tease is what got the customer to buy.
Tease sales and that's what we are here for. Now before you jump on me please allow me to clarify. This does not mean I'm saying "the means justifies the end". If said product is lousy, no good, worthless, etc. Then shame on the seller. If you bought it on the WF then you should post a legitimate review of it in the WSO or even blog it. Whatever floats your boat. But the tease is a very legitimate sales technique. My opinion; When you paint a sales technique with such a broad negative stroke, you may cause more harm than good. Especially to those who are just starting out to learn how too sale. Ken Leatherman The Old Geezer ![]() P.S. No one in a WSO or any other sales letter should have to reveal what the "secret" is in the sales letter. |

Yes, the 'tease' can, indeed, result in a certain percentage of refunds. That's simply the nature of the medium. That said, classic selling techniques demand that you do this. "Don't Sell the Steak, Sell the Sizzle", as the old direct marketing masters used to say. Hopefully, the percentage of sales conversions will outweigh the number of returns - assuming, of course, that the product isn't complete recycled garbage! It's important to remember though that Internet millionaires didn't get that way through pure landing page offers. They got there via building and cultivating responsive email lists that they treat better than their favorite puppy! --JR |

Something to keep in mind....You can't refund a sale that was never made.
