Well I have been actively working on projects for the last 2 years now, and have nothing to show for it. I'm not sure if my focus just is not there, or if I really will never succeed in internet marketing.
I tried so many niches, and have learned all the tips and secrets, but I am still stuck. How are you all doing it? Some of you make so much money every month, and I am still stuck at zero, sometimes working 10 hour days. How can my focus be so off?? How can I make money doing this? Can anyone help me get focused? Sorry for the mini rant... Done now, Gam |

My #1 problem is I'm constantly distracted. I get really excited about focusing on one niche and then a week later, begin working on another niche, then the next couple weeks, I find something else I want to work on. See the pattern here?
If you stick to one money making niche and work on that niche for months, you should be able to dominate the niche. What methods are you using to promote your niche??? |

Well from what youve already said i can see you dont truely believe in the products or services you have been promoting.
If you are passionate about somthign and decide to promote it for deasons a, b and c then what is stopping you making money? My advice to you is to go back to basics, look at your hobbies intrests etc etc and come up with a list of products you WANT to promote, dont just do it because you think you'll make the best return. If you promote somthign you WANT to promote then your going to make money simply (my opinion anyway) I wish you all the best and please feel free to speak to me further, I know when your down not knowing what to do its useful to speak to someone else! |

When I first started out and wanted to make $$ online from a website, not a service, I: -Picked a popular niche(using strategies found here on the WF) -Built a site Populated site with articles(that I bought here on the WF) -Then worked on traffic generation...meaning that I would work different strategies until either perfected or determined useless. Once I had the right formula...I would repeat for another site in another niche, all the time gathering experience for a larger project. Either way, I focused on ONE site in ONE niche. The traffic aspect is where I focused in multiple areas...but ONE at a time. Everyone will have their own system, but IMO nothing happens overnight. Expect for something to take weeks and sometimes months before you see results. But I picked something and ran with it. I didnt reinvent the wheel, I just modified it to fit my style. There is no golden egg here, so if you are looking for "Easy" money, which after two years I doubt you are, focus in on one thing at a time. Of course I don't know you, what you've done over the past two years, just saying what worked for me personally. keith

Well I got into the IM niche, I think that was my biggest mistake, but all the gurus talk about making money selling info products and I thought it is easy and affordable.
I guess making that decision cost me alot of time and money. As far as promotion, my excitement has died down, and I no longer want to be in the IM niche, so I am thinking of just scrapping the site. Maybe starting fresh in a new niche. I have no idea how to really choose a niche I will like and will earn money. I have no start up money for a new project, I spent around $5,000 to a marketer just to get the one site off the ground. So starting fresh is really scary and no budget right now. |

If absolutely nothing you've done has worked, do this and I guarantee you sales:
Pick a product on Clickbank that has a gravity of more than 50 but less than 150. Set up a simple, one-page review site with your affiliate links pointing to the sales page. Write 5 articles a day indefinitely with links to your review page and submit them to EZA. That will all take you much less than 10 hours a day, and it's impossible that you won't make sales if you just keep doing it. If you make 2 sales a week doing that, start writing 10 articles a day and you'll be selling 4 things a week. It's not the most sophisticated approach, and it's not one that will make you rich, but it will get you sales and show you that Internet marketing can work. |

You are right, I just can't get focused, because honestly I am not even sure what I want to REALLY put my efforts into.
I love cars, but don't really see how I could make money with cars online. I tried to get approved for ebay affiliate, so I could sell some cars, and really fell flat because they will not approve me no matter how hard I try. I'm also interested in the beauty niche, but again, have no idea where to even start. You are right, I do need a solid plan, one that will produce the most results with a daily schedule. |

You obviously have the desire. What you lack is focus and direction, or so it seems. I picture you kind of flailing around, moving from one project to the next in an attempt to find something that sticks. Step back, take a deep breath, and get some help. Find a mentor, a coach, whatever you want to call it. Get to know a successful marketer and follow their specific advice. It doesn't appear that you lack the "want." Now you just need the "what." Lots of us have been there. Don't give up. But also, don't keep doing what isn't working. That'll make it worse.

Gam,
Don't give up, you'll throw away all that knowledge and work. The hardest part is finding that first profitable niche everything else then falls into place, you know how to make it more successful. As others have said try something based on your interests, something you can believe in, try and move away from the hyper competitive stuff that everyone tries and mostly fails with. Even the smallest niche can pay out big time if you get it right. Good luck Neil |

A mentor costs money, and right now, I just do not have any more money to burn, my family is upset that I threw $5,000 away.
I'm just happy to know, that I defiantly want to get out of the IM niche and focus on 2 real niches. I think a solid plan would be very helpful right now. |

Hi gamirdkt,
No matter how much chocolate I eat, I will never love chocolate, no matter how many people tell me how good chocolate I will never become successful at Loving chocolate. It is just not a part of who I am. I may learn everything there is to know about chocolate, but it still does not change the fact that chocolate is not for me. I may become successful at pretending to enjoy the taste but beneath the fake mask I do not value chocolate and my fake chocolate love persona will eventually crumble. Are you pretending to like chocolate, because everyone around you like chocolate. Broaden your horizons, there may be another flavor out there for you and it will blow your mind, how successful you will be at loving that flavor. Clint S |

Here's what I would think would work. 1. Pick something, doesn't matter. It won't be your entire focus for your whole life. Consider it a learning experience or project. 2. Concentrate on it. Make mistakes, make things happen. As Keith above stated, work out the formula. It can be transported to other niches. 3. Write down your goals. Write down your list of tasks that must be done. Scratch them off as they are completed. IE: Install WordPress Create reviews Get backlinks Create Videos Create a product... etc. 4. Get a mentor. Get someone you must report to. It really makes you get it done. I hate this part, but it works. Tell them what you will be doing and what the deadline is. You won't be so willing to put it off when you realize you must crawl to them and say you didn't do it.

1. What are you spending your "10 hour days" doing?
2. What type of a marketer are you? (CPA, Affiliate marketer, Product owner etc.) 3. What have you tried and done since the last 2 years? 4. Have you built your own list? If you're working 10 hours to day to make this "internet marketing stuff" to work, then I guess you are truly dedicated, but questioning your own abilities won't help you much. Please answer the questions above and I (along with other Warriors) will try to help you out :-) Ishan |

Hi
Been there - done that .... My advice would be to stop spending money, for now anyway. You say you want to get out of IM and focus on 2 niches. Why focus on 2 - why not focus on 1 of them until it takes off and then move on to the other one? Have you done any keyword research on your 2 niches to see if either of them is profitable? There's a lot of sound advice given in this thread but only you can decide whether you are going to take any of it and what you are going to do with it. You are obviously keen to continue or you wouldn't have taken the time to post this thread. Stick at it and you'll eventually find what suits you best. Mary |

I invested $14k or so within 1 year before I started to make money with internet marketing. I lost about $9,000 doing exactly what you are doing today Guess where I "invested" (not lost) the rest of that money? Learning. And IMO there isn't a better resource then the Warrior Forum. Get real. If you had spent 10 hours a day doing things that make money, you wouldn't create such a thread. If you DO spend 10 hours a day reading stuff about IM, learning stuff about IM (but never applying it) then YES, you do have the dedication and the desire, but you need to TAKE ACTION. Successful people TAKE ACTION Unsuccessful people MAKE EXCUSES. Answer the questions above, and I will try to guide you. Ishan

Ishan,
I am really just getting excited at the prospect of all the stuff I need to do, with no real product, or service in mind. I started building niche sites, and then decided to start a free plr membership site. With no luck, and lots of money spent, I am really burnt out. PLR is too competitive. I worked on building a list with my plr site, I set up amember to track and manage the membership area, but have very little traffic and really see no profits with this particular niche. Specially with the site being free. I would like to try to set up review sites, and write articles, but I am broke, and can not afford to really invest in another project. |

I feel you pain as in all my years online I have never made any real substantial money, yeah I made a few hundred bucks here and there and had a few times I amde a few thousand but nothing that ever lasted. Most I made was 5K went I started out as a warrior (long long time ago) and had created a email list manager software to compete with Floodgate. The old timers here will know that program very well lol. Unfortunately I had to learn how to program and came out with it too late and my marketing basically sucked. My program was good and had the competition beat in features but like I said I was too late with it and AOL was suing the pants out of anyone who created such programs. I have tried promoting affiliate programs, selling scripts I made, wrote a 21 page ebook and made some utility softwares yet never made much since list program. I have taken a few years off here and there but I have never really given up on my dream of making decent money online and I am back at it again or so hope to be. Don't give up. Failing means that you are one step closer to suceeding. John

You can learn from your mistakes or give up - your choice. Sitting at a computer for 10 hrs a day is nothing unless you are accomplishing something during that time. "reading", "learning", and "looking for" don't count as time worked. Building a site or blog, adding content, writing articles or creating a product, building backlinks, etc - THAT's work. If you choose not to give up, you have to change what you do. Find ONE niche - a topic you have some interest in that REAL people are looking for - and focus only on what you need to know to promote that one niche. IM make money niche is the biggest mistake a new marketer can make - you can't complete with those who really do make money in this niche. Don't know what niche to start in - look up posts and blogs on "how to choose a niche" Then learn how to effectively judge the value of a niche and how to identify the best keyword phrases. Don't pay any attention to products and WSO's about "make fast money" or "try this method" unless you want to waste two more years of your life. Focus on doing one thing well and stick with it. You love cars... and you can't figure out a way to make money with cars online??? Seriously???? Dude, I just keyword googled "muscle cars" and pulled up 2,367 searches A DAY. "Classic cars" = 3,423 searches. A DAY. And that's without even drilling down into the niche keywords. That's 5,790 web surfers with a passion. Because, even though I'm not a car gal, I know this: people who are into cars are REALLY into cars. And the niches like, Mustang classic car enthusiasts or whatever, buy doodads for their cars all the time. I mean, seriously, if it came to a choice between the baby's diaper money, or getting a new pair of rims, these guys would have to take a moment to think about it. You've already gotten specific advice in this thread. So the only thing I have to add is this: Quit feeling sorry for yourself. There is no Magic Bullet. There is no "Make Money in Your Sleep" Magic Pill. Find a car niche you know something about, and are passionate about. Start blogging, writing (not-crap) articles, affiliate linking to relevant products. If you're putting in focused 10-hour days on THAT, I fail to see how you can not make money.

Ok, so if I wanted to sell cars online, how would I go about it? Almost like a virtual car lot. Is that even possible? I would be so passionate about that.
I just never thought it was even possible, but after all this positive talk, maybe I could really make it a reality? |

Collette,
Thank you! You are right, I could write for days on cars! But how do I actually sell them? Just set up a site with parts, and sell the parts? I would much rather sell the actual car it's self. Wow, you have my brain reeling! |

But if you do choose to pursue, give it the focus that it needs. There are so many niches available. I know nothing about cars and no idea if these are good niches, but just looking at Amazon automotive section (easy to be approved for their network), there is: Exterior Accessories (168,414) Car Care (2,868) Mobile Electronics & Accessories (25,585) Tools & Equipment (4,151) Paint, Body & Trim (33,790) Replacement Parts (223,123) Wheels & Tires (9,483) Performance Parts & Accessories (2,737) Motorcycle & ATV (1,188) Oils & Fluids (1,392) Automotive Enthusiast Merchandise (46) Perhaps you can review a few of these products, or answer questions that people have about them and include affiliate links or adsense on the page. If you do go the infoproduct route, I'm sure there is a demand as well. Perhaps advice on restoring cars? How to sell your car for the most money? Tricks on getting good deals on new or used vehicles? Like I said I don't know cars and I haven't done any keyword research, but I bet you can find a profitable subniche or two. And then decide what one or two things you must do every day to grow your business. Focus on the tasks that will give you results, rather than spending all day. You'll still make mistakes and you'll still have a lot to learn, but you would be heading in the right direction.

Google your niche, man. Look at waht all people are selling. It's not just the actual car itself.
I know that there are people who make some good money buying classic cars or whatever, and re-selling them on e-bay or classic car classified sites. But this is not quick, or easy money. And, by your own admission, you don't have the ready cash to do that right now. But what about a site that incorporates classifieds for people who want to sell their cars? What about review site for products to restore classic cars? What about a site that contains information on each and every "classic car" - complete with links to affiliate listings for products or sales sites or whatever. *Substitute "car stuff of your choice" for "classic cars" Disclaimer: I haven't researched ANY of this. These are just ideas that I came up with off the top of my head. And I'm not even a car enthusiast. You're still going to need to do your research, find affiliate programs with supply compaines or dealers, or whatever (hint: CB is probably NOT your best bet!), conttact them, get set up... and so on. Yes, there's WORK to be done. But at least, you'll be doing work that you love, are interested in, and are passionate about. Instead of trying to do some pale me-too imitation of IM that you really don't give a flying frog fart about. |

It is very time consuming to learn some of this stuff, but it goes quicker and quicker the more you do it. Fast money tactics are really just a temporary bandaid - not something to build a long term business. There are VERY FEW exceptions to this. For example someone who specializes in adwords to get the sale. Of course, they will typically need to still do other things to maintain an income, such as run campaigns on many sites - and if they are smart they will set up a landing page with optin so they can sell to that traffic over and over. But adwords can be tricky if you don't watch what you are doing, and personally it would scare me to death to rely on this technique as an only source of income. Quote:

Did you know you can do a site about cars that links to ebay auctions of car parts and make money off of other peoples sales and purchases? Did you know you can get into dropshipping of some things that you can offer to sell in your own auctions? Did you know that currently I have a client in the offline world who is counting on me to gather some content and promote his sites - and he is in the auto repair and car biz? Did you know you can run adsense on a site about cars? Did you know you could start a forum for car collectors? You can add a classified section in the forum for others to list their cars or look for parts and you could charge for the listings? Did you know there are ebooks you can promote that are specific to cars? Did you know you could write your own ebook about car maintence and sell it? Did you know you could create a local directory that displays all the local car dealerships and autobody shops with your reviews on them - and you could sell banner/ad space on your site to these places? Need more ideas on how to monetize on your knowledge of cars? Pick a niche, decide how you are going to monetize on it, and keep trying methods until one clicks. You want to sell in the IM niche? Fine. Learn how to make some money in a non im related field first (this will force you to really learn IM) and then use that knowledge to sell stuff that helped you.

I am not sure what you are going to do with your current sites or if you have totally given up on them, but if they are making you no money and you have nothing to protect, maybe you should tell us the sites and see if we can help.
