Default Is Ezine editing articles?

I recently submitted an article to ezinearticles that has a lot of sentences bolded. It passed the initial review, but when I checked on it it seems that all my bolded text was un-bolded. I bolded the text again, then resubmitted, and now I see that they've done the same thing again.

What's going on here, is it normal for ezine to do this to articles?

I have seen minor spelling corrections by them in past. I am not surprised that they un-bolded your text while reviewing.

Their Author TOS States this:

8. If your article does not conform to the EzineArticles editorial guidelines, our editors may edit your article so that it does conform to the posted editorial guidelines. Please read our editorial guidelines before submitting your articles to save time and speed the article approval process.

Hi Jon,

You mentioned that you had a lot of sentences bolded. I assume that if there is too much bold text, they don't like it because it doesn't look professional.

I've noticed that when I bold four or less sub-headings, it stays bold, but when I do more than this they are edited so that the text is no longer bold.

Yes, it's not unknown at all, Jon. If they were otherwise going to reject an article purely on the basis of "too much bold" and then accept it anyway, if and when re-submitted, they're just trying to save time and effort all round by removing the bold and publishing it instead, I think. It seems fair enough, really?

Yep, that is exactly what they did.

Best thing to do is send them a thank you note (they could have just rejected it, leaving you holding the bag) for doing that, and move on.

Yes they do edit articles, seen as they have human editors. They also reject articles so you could consider yourself lucky to get it approved twice with the same mistake corrected.

I dont know how many times I have had silly little mistakes which they could have fixed themselves that they stalled my article being published. It can be pretty annoying at times.

Articles need to be immaculate before submitting now!

Yeah ... they have edited the bold out of mine .

I didn't have a lot of bold and no kw bold

Long as they get accepted .. I really don't care . They could have just as easily rejected my article .... not given a clear reason.... had me contact them... after my own re-edit , two weeks ... later published the article .

Kind of appreciate their cleaning it up myself

I have several articles with EzineArticles, and I have found that the only time they will un-bold your text is when they consider it to be excessive, whatever that means. You can contact them for the specific reason.

I checked out the editorial guidelines, and sure enough, it mentions excessive bolding.

Lesson learned, I'll make sure to read more in the future before I start complaining about something

I've been rejected for having too many words in my anchor text but have seen many people published with 4 or more words in their anchor text. It seems to depend on who's editing your article. Never had an article edited but I'm a bear when it comes to editing my articles anyways. It usually takes longer for me to edit than it did to write.
