Am I The Only One Who Does This Or What?

Just a quick rant. I was doing research online and discovered it's very hard for me to find new unique material. All of it sounds so rehashed that if I use it my stuff will sound no different from theirs. I have resorted to going to the central library to do good old fashioned research from books. using this method I found I am able to find a wealth of information I had an impossible time finding online. I know people will disagree, but does anyone else here ever research from an actual book when doing big time research for a project?

That's why many of the articles I had in my membership sites (when I had them), were so good. My main writer always used the library for her research. She never goes online

I would say you are one of a very little crowd, mainly because IM's just want to keep moving forward, so spending time in the library doesn't apeel to many, although this is great dedication from you to actually spend time and effort to get quality, and less of a chance of the content already on the net, so if your comfortable with doing that, keep going!

The library will give you far more superior information than what's online. Most online information is "lazy" information if you know what I mean.

The reason the so called "experts" are saying that is because it increases conversion. It works. People don't like complicated wording.

But I wasn't referring to complicated phrasing or anything like that.

Books written by experts generally have far more information on a subject than a website or article has and usually it's far more in depth.

I would say the web has "de-educated" a lot of people in terms of literature etc, because we are all writing for 8th graders...which in turn makes us 8th graders as well.

Oh well...that's the new age for you

I use books. When I do research online I try to stay with the experts in my field.

  • The savvy, successful content writer realizes research will make personally written copy "king." There are a number of great resources for writers available online, including many sources to solicit "expert" testimony in almost every subject matter available. Although a lot on the Internet should remain "suspect," an effective research professional knows always to gather more than one source (preferably at least three - and always odd numbers). While Google has taken on an ambitious project to digitize all human knowledge, the Internet remains a valuable research tool for people possessing the knowledge how to use it correctly. That said, specific reference material will always be found readily at your local public library. During a 30 plus year career as an investigative reporter, I had two burning needs when entering a new market - 1) Where is the library? and 2) Show me to the coffee machine!

    Interesting points.

Because when I began online marketing in fields I already had a lot of knowledge about, I used the library.

And found that the books their had the same information as the internet did.

So maybe it is just the few niches I have been in, but I have found the opposite as you guys.
