Give me ideas on promoting a membership site?

I'm working on a PLR membership site but I'm not sure the best ways to promote it once it's launched next week. I didn't create the products so I can't do a WSO. I do plan on posting a classified ad but what else can you suggest to reach the people who would likely be interested in this type of site?

One tactic I've been seeing lately with the lists I'm on is that no matter what kind of "informational email" I get, they always seem to have a very subtle pitch at the end going to a PLR site. Then of course they list on the sales page how much PLR can help and all the different ways you can use it.

The email itself could have nothing to do with PLR, but it will be intertwined at the end some how. So I don't know what kind of list you have, if your building one or what kind of info you send them, but that may be one option.

If you're talking about promotion, going viral is a good idea. Youtube, maybe?

Tina, In this case the PLR is not the product, the membership site (that you did create) is the product. I think you could do a WSO. Why not ask for clarification?

I'm assuming this PLR membership site will be aimed at IM'ers in the MMO niche.

What you need to do is create a variety of free good quality MMO ebooks.

Distribute those eBooks out for free.. so that you can build a list. (plenty of places to distribute it.)

Then sell your PLR membership to them on the backend/via email followups.

Great model which works.

Internet marketers who sell plr products to their list will be interested in plr membership site.

What you can do is :

1) Submit your website to Clickbank and let affiliates do their work. Put advertisement on clickbank itself in the relevant category to attract attention from affiliates.

2) Advertising with Google adwords and Yahoo search will also give your website extremely targeted traffic and many members.

3) You can find members selling plr products on Twitter.com. In 'Find people' section search for plr, you will get some of those members, follow the followers of those members so that they can follow you back. Add info about your membership website in your profile.

4) You can promote in related Myspace, Facebook, Yahoo, MSN and Google groups.

Easy. Build a simple squeeze page and offer to give away a viral branded e-book (don't tell them it's viral lol! ) in exchange for their name and e-mail. Once they give you their info, they need to be redirected to a download page where you give them the book and give them access to your website as a bonus (if it is not free, you will need to replace the bonus with an OTO). That way you are capturing their info and you can follow up with them. If you want, you can also have an OTO where you sell the private label rights to the book. Or even a discount page as well, if they choose not to take the OTO. The more pages the better!

If you want, I can supply you with one of my viral e-books. Just PM me and I will send a copy (of course this copy will be branded with my links, lol! But if you want to buy the brandable version I can give you a special deal).

Finally, to be honest, it is ALWAYS best for you to create your own viral e-book. I'm doing that right now, and it is a much more powerful method, because it's a brand new release you can't get nowhere else. This is the power of creating your own product.

As for traffic, there is a gazzillion things you can do (how hyperbolic of me...). You can try traffic exchanges, safelists, SEO (such as articles, keywords and bookmarking), social media, etc.... I'm writing a whole book about the subject. There's way too much to cover here. Do you have any preferences?

5) You can write 10 articles about 'How to make money from plr products' and submit to Ezinearticles.com.

I just wanted to note this for any newbies - you cannot do this. EZA will not approve articles about PLR as they completely frown upon it.

I've had the same problem. They will not accept any PLR related articles, not sure why!

It may be a new rule but they are not accepting any articles that discuss using PLR or buying PLR, etc. You can't go by what you find on the site because they don't seem to apply new rules retroactively unless something is brought to their attention.
