What you are looking for in terms of building an affiliate store filled with physical retail products is called an affiliate datafeed.

So the info you need revolves around affiliate datafeeds, where to get them, how to use them and what software is needed to manipulate them. I doubt there is a WSO about datafeeds, but I guess there could be.

They used to call me the datafeed queen because I used to specialize in datafeed stores, have written lots of articles about them and helped design an automated datafeed solution. So I can give you some tips to get you started.

1st to learn the basics read: Datafeeds 101 - A Beginner's Primer and
Double Affiliate Conversion Rates With A Datafeed

Next to get affiliate datafeeds, most of the top affiliate networks like CJ, Google Affiliate Network, Linkshare and Sharesale have them. So pick your niche then search for merchant that sell the right products and have datafeeds.

Then you need to pick the right solution to help you upload and organize the datafeed to your site.

The raw software most affiliates use is Webmerge. That's if you are very technically inclined.

But if you are not that technical and want a slick super easy way to incorporate datafeeds, use Popshops or Datafeedr.

What's the commission on products through Amazon? (%-wise) -- That's another consideration.

I think Amazon is in the 4-6% range. (but I haven't checked for awhile.)

One thing I know for sure though is they only have 1 day cookies.
Most decent retail affiliate programs have 30 days or more.

the amazon plugin looks interesting as well. Anybody have thoughts on what is easier to setup on a regular html site vs. a wordpress site?

Thanks 2011. I'm not really looking for a review site. I'm looking for a "shell" -- an online "store" I can "stock" with affiliate links + products (physical products) *I* can choose.

There's two elements -- the "shelves" + "display cases" in the store (the infrastructure). Then there's the "stuff" on the shelves.

I'm looking for guidance in how to set up both parts. I want them to be independent of each other. I don't want the store I "build" to dictate what I can + cannot put on the shelves. I want the freedom to be able to pick + choose which products I put on the shelves.

hi i am MaverickJohn Lim here my suggestion to you go and post free classified ads in your affiliate product. Put it as an offer dont put the price tag yet.

So u must have a very good keywords and content to stand up your ads.
Another way is to sign up ebay whereby u need to read up their Term and Conditions or Pay.Doc Com.
