1) A lot if you have a lot of visitors.
2) It depends on how many visitors you have. YouTube bandwith costs is $1,000,000 per day, but of course they have millions of visitors. You will be fine with an average dedicated hosting, at least for the first months. 3) They get a lot of money from CPA. Also you may try to advertise some Clickbank products like penis enlargement and similar stuffs. 4) I don't know, sorry. 5) Just find the right hosting company that allows adult content. |

I won't name the name but there is a site like this already. They gross about 100K from various ads etc. They have been desperately trying to sell the site for over a year - and can't. There are many reason and these reasons you need to be aware of so you can mitigate the immense risk they impose (which is why this site is wanting to sell).
1. Copyright infringement. Youtube and other sites like that are constantly fighting battles to remove infringing material and not get sued out of existence. Hope you've budgets a lot of $$$ for legal fees. 2. The US Code - laws of our land. There are several statutes that deal with adult content - basically along 2 fronts but for the same reason - child porn. The first is you have to be able to prove the identity and age of ALL models/actors appearing on your site. Even in agregation you have to make sure the people posting have complied with this law. You can either TRUST they've done it - or require them to show you proof before you allow them to post. Of course you can ignore and hope you don't come up on any AG's radar on a slow news day during an election. 2- Did I mention child porn? IANAL, but basically its a statutory offense. Basiaclly means you're guilty just by being in possession or seeing it. This causes folks like me pretty big issues since I've ran data centers and have had to deal with these foul loathsome scumbags. Nothing like calling the FBI or SBI or other law enforcement types and telling them what I have on my server. Thankfully I've always dealt with professionals who were more interested in nailing the bad guys than in getting press/convictions. Its a very scary slipperly slope. Hope you have a lot of $$$ for lawyers. 3. Nothing brings out the bandwidth and service hogs like free adult content. Hope you have a lot of $$$ for infrastructure to handle it. There are providers who will host your sites and provide the bandwidth - they just cost a lot of money. 4. I know a lot about this since I've ran several data centers and have worked with folks like PHE here in NC. Also one of the largest consumers of bandwith at one of our naps was an adult service in Charlotte - if your site takes off you'll be spending lots of $$$ on various things. Personally - the fear of getting just accused of being a child porn provider - that will land you on page 1 for sure- and even if you get out of the charge - any notice of that will be on page 32 in one column - would keep me from ever hosting such a site as you're comtemplating. If you'd rather purchase such a company send me a PM and I'll let you know the name of the company. You can also take a look at various M&A (mergers and acquisitions) sites and probably find a mention there too. Please take this as a start and a grain of salt since by bias is obvious here. But there are things you can do to protect yourself against infringement, DCMA notices etc. But hosting adult content just makes it that much harder to protect yourself. You could also move the servers outside US jurisdiction. Added cost. You really need to discuss this with a competent attorney versed in this industry before just throwing up a site and thinking you'll be making a mint in no time. There's an obscene (sorry couldn't resist) amount of money in this industry - but there are some very big downsides/risks as well. |

Try the forum at GFY.com. They maybe help you there. Note that this is a saturated and competitive niche (you are about 5 years late). Hope you have something youporn, redtube, pornhub, etc do not have.

Why would anyone want to get into an industry that is dominated by the Mafia, Russian and the traditional Sicilian versions, not to mention the Triads, and other "less than legal" types.
Three industries you should never get involved in, no matter how much money there is involved: 1 Sex 2 Drugs 3 Rock and roll The reasons for not getting involved are - fiercely competitive, dominated by nefarious types, and the main reason... never mix business with pleasure

thank you all very much for your great help.
definitely gave me things to think about. I can handle the streaming and encoding at very low prices but the legal issue is really something i haven't thought would be that much of a problem. I just assumed since there were so many successfull porn sites at the world's 100 biggest traffic sites - then it must be really profitable, and they seem to handle the law issues fairly good for now as they are still running. |

Original content can make good money in that industry.
Get a lawyer. All local state and federal laws to be addressed in a legitimate contract. Go to a local hotspot where young attractive ladies are(College towns work best) recruit a couple. Create a new fresh and unique site with new unseen ladies. Build your site using scalable web services. Good luck. Obviously a lot more involved but it is a multibillion dollar a year industry. The best thing that could happen is you create a site with original content and one of the big companies buys your site from you within a year or 2.
