Default Quick Question about selling a site.

Hello,
I'm getting ready to sell a site, and it's contents. I'm a little worried though.

I'm not sure the best way to take payment. I can take paypal, sure.. but as easily as it is to accept paypal, the buyer can easily file a claim and *poof* there goes your money and the site.

Is there another or a "preferred" method for this? Do buyers trust wire transfer of funds of sites?

50% paypal 50% wire?

I just don't trust paypal one bit.

Dennis

If you're concerned about the money or fraud then you should look into Escrow.com depending on how much you're selling it for. It is one of the most reputable and trusted sites for alleviating worry on both the buyer's and seller's end.

I believe it's also what the big name Domain Name auction houses like Moniker use as well.

I'll vouch for escrow.com also. I use them all the time. They're great to deal with.

Hi,

If you are talking big bucks you have to do it on your terms and the buyer should be very motivated and hungry enough to buy your site, motivated enough to jump through a few hoops. If not, move on.

If this is the case, insist on a Check or Money order and do not transfer anything until the check or money order clears, and you are assured by your bank that it is legit and there is no possibility of it coming back to bite you.

In this day of CC charge backs and PayPal reversals this is the only way IMHO.

I know many will take umbrage with my statement but with all the Charge Backs and other fraudulent things going on, better safe than sorry.

Another vote for escrow.com.

I use it at least once a month...most of the time more often than that.

Yep, i always use escrow.com for all my domain sales.. it's pretty much the standard at flippa and other domain marketplaces.

Never use paypal.

Elegant, simple and clean Landing Page Templates for just $7.

A better option, IMHO, is to have the buyer do a wire transfer of the money into a bank account you set up just for this sale. The funds will be immediately available to you and you don't have to worry about bounced checks or any of that stuff. You can call your bank to confirm when the funds have arrived.
