Small fry suffering and what to do about it, any clues

I'm 53. Way back then, I was the most adventureous gal in my part of town and it was not just about traveling. Finishing college, I was the first to have a job lined up, actually seven offers.

I was impatient, I needed more, more , more. If the job was a permanent position, I walked away. Never wanted to be tied up. I did not really care about money, just wanted a semi freedom. And I did great.

I was not afraid of contacting, building relationships, stretching the boundaries. Today, is a different picture. After having a couple of offline businesses (where I burnt myself out and developed serious carpal tunnel), if I ever wanted a JOB, forget it.

I'm trying to be positive but I get weak sometimes. Been studying this whole IM thing and I think I have a pretty good grasp of it, still can't see myself spending 3-6 month just testing out an idea. But that time, I would have to pick my favorite cardboard, lol.

Bottom line, I AM DYING TO LEARN. Please, even if I have to eat macaroni and rice for 6 months to afford to pay for training, I'll gladly eat it. I am not looking for any freebies, just your honest reply in what "guru" to join.

Requsite: I HAVE to be able to ask my own questions to kill the fire in my brain, not being force-fed something that has not even registered "up there" yet.

What are your suggestions and if you may, how did you get started and third, what time did it take you (time you spent, time it took).

Greatly appreciate all your comments, thanks, Eva

P.s. This could be both offline AND online :p

Eva, sounds like it is time to quit learning and start doing. Nothing is going to happen unless you commit.

I want to encourage you. Start making sites or blogs, getting links back to those, make more sites/ blogs and don't look back or stop to see if one takes off before you do others.

Do your keyword research first and look at the amount of competition you are up against. I just bought a WSO that has done a lot of the keyword research done for a person. This is not an affiliate link, just the WSO page:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...verlooked.html

It can take a lot of boring repetitious work, but it pays off.

If you could post what you do know how to do it would help others know where you can start and what will be a better path might be.

I started in '98 and just jumped in. I was computer illiterate. The company I choose to tutor me, turned out to be a mistake on my part. Long story. Anyway, they told me to learn page mill. I had to pick up a manual of about 4 or 5 inches thick and learn it little by little by myself, enough to make my own web page changes.

Today, a person can start with blogger.com or web 2.0 pages and start making cash and then move on to something else as they get more comfortable. I suggest your own website as soon as possible.

It can take a few weeks to a few months for what you do to start taking off, unless you want to shorten that with paid advertising.

You may want to get a coach, or people will tell you who has some good classes for not much.

Goff Shaw has several memberships, and is going to run a wso soon. He does a lot with videos, so a person can see how to do each step. And he uses blogger.com or a comination of with a website.

Jeremy Kelsall has been spoken of highly for some classes that are not very expensive.

If you really want to learn how to make money quickly, I would suggest that you immerse yourself in the world of Google Adwords.

No need for a guru, there is more than enough free info online. Here, I'll save you $47 anyway... find niche that you can put a bit of a spin on. Try to think like a surfer and not a marketer and you'll do fine. You are smart, you should be able to get the hang of it quickly.

Do not use Google Adwords, google has that rigged so that so no one makes money from it but them.

Learn how to build websites with Wordpress, thats the easiest way to build a professional website. Then, make a product in a niche you know a lot about, make an affiliate program, and drive traffic.

Just buying a product doesnt realy work in most cases

      Your sig shows "PhotoStory3" so; Here's how to monetize it;

      Here's what a friend does;

Restaurants take great pride in their INTERIOR DECOR. They spend lots of Time and Money so the INSIDE of their place is perfecto.

However, no one knows what the interior looks like until they get inside, so...knowing this, he calls restaurants and asks them if he could make a "Sample Video" of their restaurant, at NO obligation. This Video would include outside and interior shots and they could use the video to let people see, what their place looks like.

They usually want to know the price. He tells them he doesn't know until he sees what's involved. All he wants, now, is his permission to come over and take some shots and see what we have. "I make up a sample and we can go from there, again, at absolutely no charge or obligation."

He then goes to the restaurant and take Digital Photos with his Digital Camera. About 10 or 12, and make a "Video" with PhotoStory3 with a music background.

He creates a DVD with the PS3 file and puts it in a "Portable DVD Player" he got from WalMart (Phillips, $79)

Visits the restaurant owner, runs the 60 to 90 sec program and tellls the owner he'll put the Video on YouTube and 7 other Video sites for $500 setup plus $75/mo for 6 mos ($950) OR, if he pays yearly in advance he'll knock off 2 mos payments, $500 + $750 = $1250.

      They usually give him $1250.

He gets ONE restaurant a day...5 a week.

      So, there ya go.

He also walks in cold, asks to see the owner, plops his Phillips Portable DVD Player down on any flat surface (It's battery-operated) and runs 2 or 3 of his recent DVD's.

Asks the owner if he can take some shots, at NO obligation. Takes the shots. Goes home and makes the DVD. Comes back and runs it for the owner, who is SO IMPRESSED seeing his own restaurant, he BUYS.

This "formula" works for restaurants who already have websites or not. If they have a site, it can add to it. If they don't he offers to make one for them.

Ooopppsss....I forgot what he's doing now, along with restaurants.

He goes to the Reference Dept of his local Library where there's usually a copy of a "Cross-Index" Directory. This is a Phone Book with numbers listed according to Address.

So, he phones businesses right down the block, giving them the same basic pitch about a "NO Obligation Video", getting their permission to "stop by and take some photos". Makes the vids. Goes back and shows them THEIR OWN business with their own Merchandise, in a Video. Very Impressive.

Each video only takes about 30 min or less.

He now has someone who makes the videos for him but he does the selling and taking the photos.

VIDEO is hot right now and you don't even need a CamCorder or editing equipment. The free PS3 program. A Digital Camera, a $20 program (Sonic) that converts the PS3 file to DVD, a Portable DVD Player ($80) and you're off and running with the potential of $1,000 and more a day.

          Go For It!

Hi you all, thank you for all your suggestions. I do have set up two wordpress blogs. Really did my keyword research good and got my second blog #1 in less than 24 hours It's just that I have so many questions and I don't want to feel like an idiot if I'm out there offline and do not have an answer to a question.

I suggest you hit the social networks hard and begin growing a list of responsive followers while you go about learning the craft. Interacting with followers is easy and won't take hardly any training at all to begin growing your network up. Then after a couple months you should have a pretty good idea what product you can sell to your network.

start of with the available skills you have now. i see in your sig that you can write, create power point and slide shows for marketing. you can leverage your knowledge in those subject to become an object of a future product.

not many internet marketers have your skills and most successful ones started slow and small with the exception of a few who were gifted with financial backing.

just keep working on something and stop learning - just do what you think will work, make mistakes and learn from them. i guess that's the only way in whatever business you want to go into.

      goodluck.

I am exactly your age, closed my last IT business in 2005 and have been day trading for a living since, and it's been going well. recently I decided to get into this IM biz, for 2 reasosns; 1. Trading is very part time for me. 2. It seems pretty cool and rewarding. Been thru most of the guru's stuff and not found much outside of hype. I have now enrolled in Delta Squadron by Michael Cheney and am pretty happy with it so far. He mixes the usual success and personal development theories, but his site is well organized and easy to follow. I think he is not taking on new students now, but will soon. I'm also in my mid-50s, ex-Californian and I was never into "jobs". I've taken to IM pretty well and make a full-time living out of it. But it wasn't, and still isn't, easy. For the first time in my life I really had to stick to something and I've been at it for four years straight working long hours with almost never a day off. That time will come...

If this sounds grim that's not what I'm trying to convey. I'm able to make this commitment because for the first time I'm doing something I really love. I think you'll find that too.

      Here's my advice:

Dont look for gurus. The only business experience that many of them have is being a guru. They make money selling schemes to newbies but they've never sold anything else. Who need that?

I'm sure there are some genuine gurus out there who teach something of value but you can go through a lot of programs and expensive seminars before you find one.

You have the smarts and the talent to do it alone. Of course you need help, but don't look for a guru. Once you know more about what you want to do you can get all the guides, courses and WSOs you need to solve every problem along the way.

And, I agree, avoid Adwords. Some people learn to master it but it bankrupts many others. You don't stand a chance with it at this stage.

      Good luck!

Video training is a good way to learn.

There are affordable training programs that teach you
    to do it by yourself.

Make beginning, get into action and focus on the
training and persist. Stop getting distracted.

You will see good results within a reasonable time.

      Midasman,

great ideas. Got a couple of questions:

      1. I assume this can only be done in the morning before the restaurant opens since it will be full of people and you do not want to mess around with model releases?

      2. I think if you got a couple of samples, you could save them in email mode in PS3 and then call other restaurants and shoot them an email with your samples to then make an appointment for the next morning to shoot theirs?

      3. If you do it the email way, once they are in Youtube, is there a way to block them from simply copying the code and not pay you?

      4. Maybe I could watermark the whole thing and write "sample only" over each slide? How would I do that?

      5. Maybe you could also buy your own domain dininginxxxcity.com and make a restaurant directory using wordpress and SEO it highly.

      6. As far as the directory goes, you could have the restaurant owner write their own little story about their place.

      7. Make the directory a blog and print out little cards to give to satisfied customers so that they could post a comments about the great food, ambiance, etc. And if they did, give them a coupon for a discount on their next visit.

Gosh, am I over-complicating it now, lol.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, please comment. Thanks.

I was living in Bakersfield for a few years. It should be in your neck of the woods. My girlfriend came from there. I was commuting to LA everyday and traveling around a few times a month all around the US. Got tired of it and needed a break from my job.

I started going to the local businesses and offering to build websites, mostly Wordpress sites. I charged anywhere from $200 to about $,1000 depending on the size of the business and what I had to do. I did restaurants and usually made $250 to $350. I also got a lot of local jobs from craigslist. I didn't post. I just read the gigs everyday and found quite a few jobs there. I still have a couple of clients today that I still update sites for from CA.

I got a Hostgator reseller account and put the sites on that and was able to charge a monthly hosting fee.

I think the video idea is really good and would work in that area too.

I broke up with my girlfriend about a year ago and moved back east. Today, I am mostly just doing IM and making a decent living. But, if I needed quick cash I would do the offline websites and videos. It is fairly easy and it works.

    Oh Eva,

You are a perfect niche marketer LOL
Never spend more than a few weeks on a niche building the site and traffic then move on to the next one. It is the perfect fit for anyone who loves variety (like me).
You can feed your hunger for change on an ongoing basis. Even if some of the sites only bring in $100/month, if you get enough of them out there you can make a decent amount of money.

This is the direction I am taking with my IM business now. I have been doing keyword research and linking back affiliate programs to sell that are specific to my keywords which I am posting wordpress sites about. Just getting into the keyword research now, and its amazing how creative you can get to narrow down your niche. Keep up the focus, and find topics that truly interest you, and you will no doubt be successful.

I'm spending the weekend fine-tuning and practicing and come Monday, I'm out the door, ready or not, lol

To be honest, you already have everything you need right here at the WF.

I know sometimes it's great to follow just one person/guru/system, whatever you want to call it, and that we all have different learning styles, but you're already a member of the War Room, all you need's in there.

You've already paid for that membership, yet you're still looking for someone to show you what to do? There's so much priceless information in the War Room, you really don't need to pay for anything else to get yourself going.

I was in your position not so long ago, at some point though, you just have to stop reading and start doing. Don't be scared to make mistakes, anything can be remedied, you just keep learning.

Just go through the War Room and start trying some of the strategies in there. A word of warning, there is a LOT of information in that forum, it can be easy to get stuck in there with analysis paralysis. It would probably be a good idea to limit your choice from one or two pages, pick ONE method and start from there.

If your money's still burning a hole in your pocket, I'll happily PM you my Paypal address and you can pay me $1997 .

      All the best,

        Eva,

I know of a wonderful lady coach, and she has the perfect take you by the hand training system, thats under $50. and no matter if you buy her high end or lower end coaching, she treats everybody the same.

i bought one of her lower end coaching programs, and i get to meet live with her every week for extra help. this is true take you by the hand training. what she has helped me to understand is that i need a system and she has shown me how to set all my marketing up as a system. this step has made a big improvement in my online income.

the program i'm referring you to, she actually sat down with a lady, who didn't even know what affiliate marketing was, and helped her to earn over $500 in a matter of five days, now she's working on making that $500/day, with the continued help of this coach, but at no extra charge!

i think you will truly enjoy this type of training.

I will pm you the link, if that's ok.
