Parking Domains with Sedo...anyone make real cash doing it?

Hi everyone,

I've got a bunch of domains, many I don't really use anymore...some with decent PR....I am thinking of selling some so I looked into SEDO.

Apparently you can park a domain there too and they'll pay you a little something based, I guess, on the traffic that hits your domain.

Has anyone done this? Can you report about it at all? Can it bring in any cash? I wouldn't want to build it into a business model, but a little extra cash might be nice...any thoughts?

    My personal experiences are that it doesnt really work much unless youve got a domain with SUCH high search volume.

    Personally I would write a holding page for each domain, put AdSense up and let the domain mature, come back a year later and see what happens.

    I know it seems like a lot of work but it works! SEDO for me has been a waste of time even though I have some pretty good domains.

    Just my 5 pence!

      Yeah, that was sort of what I thought....I have too many projects going on at the moment or I would do exactly what you suggest. Still, I may have time to squeeze a couple of landing pages out some weekend.

        It might be worth just getting some articles outsourced, they dont have to be really high quality, just something that is ok-ish and relevant. I had a few domains that had no inbound links with 500 word content and they got a PR1.

        Another domain, I had a 500 word article put up, put adsense on it and forgot about it, its now hovering at the top of page 2 of Google for a pretty competitive term, I may just try and get some links in and get it to page 1, it gets a click or 2 so maybe just under a $ a day, not bad for somethign I forgot about!

    Just install wordpress on them, outsource a few articles, optimize everything for the given keyword your targeting. (Assuming that's the purpose of the site.)

    And just let it age until you get time.

    Shouldn't take more then 10 minutes to install wordpress and add the articles you outsourced.

    Yea you are better of developing each domain, or trying to sell each domain. Hardly anyone searches for websites by randomly typing in domain names, and your sedo landing pages won't be ranked by google. I tried it about a year ago with bad results.

      Exactly, Ive had lots of domains sitting there purely becasue Ive got so many othe rprojects on the go, I now make it part of my daily plan to change the DNS of these domains to my hosting company, install wordpress, write a pragraph or so and you're done! Becuase its Wordpress, Google will find it pretty quick.

    Hm...I think I will implement the wordpress suggestions....I have NO idea why I didn't think of that *L* some of the domains are quite old...I've had them over 10 years with sites on them...I've just ignored them completely due time constraints with other projects....thanks everyone for the help.

    Something else that I have done with some success (this is easy and just takes a couple of minutes)...

    Go to your Google account (or create a new one - it's free) - then set up a new "Google Alert" by submitting the URL of your website. Google seems to perk up when someone is monitoring a particular web site.

    Yes, it IS possible to make a truckload of money with SEDO. But (a) you need the right kind of domain names and (b) you need to optimize them. What's the right kind? In general, expired domains that get traffic. Type-it-in traffic is a nice bonus. However, it also pays to experiment with different parking services, as we've found that some domains work better with one provider and others work better with others. Now, I'm off to comment on that other thread...

    I have 60+ domains parked with sedo and made $90 from last three months.
    No very sure that you can make truckload of cash with SEDO.

    I have a couple of domains parked with Sedo and I make on average $150 - $200 a month.

    When I get the chance, I will either develop them or sell the domains, if you are considering to park your domain with Sedo instead of developing, I say you are insane!
