Whats wrong with my Opt-In Page? 0% Conversion

Hi,

I am trying to build a list this time around and so far my efforts seem futile. I posted some tweets last night and recieved 113 clicks but not 1 signup.

The items I am giving away are pretty new that I got from a monthly membership site and the squeeze page was also from a site.

What am I doing wrong? Page is in my sig.

Thanks John

Headline should be BIG AND RED. Opt in box should be above the fold (requires no scrolling) Im sure there are more things...hopefully there will be more posts

What I am seeing as a potential subscriber is, "Where is my benefit"? I mean what can your products do for me that others cant. Knowing that can mean the difference betwwen subs or no subs

    Besides comments already provided.

The bunch of products thrown together with the intention to look massive might actually devalue the quality of the products. And some of them are pretty common stuff available elsewhere for free.

The focus of the copywriting seems to be on the value of the free gifts rather than what they can do for the person.

Might want to check out the free sig i have below. It converts like gangbusters. Feel free to rip the template. =)

    My 2 cents.

It's just not targeted. You've got a grab bag of stuff to give away and your traffic is probably pretty generic too. People sign up to get the answer to specific problems not just generic IM information.

Find people with a problem. Solve the problem and find a way to give that to those people. Then you'll get sign ups.

One of my problems is that I can't write copy and it shows. I used a premade template and just changed the items being offerred.

This was one of the reason I left online as I am a number cruncher not an online marketer :-(

      Hey John,

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. We all start like this! The only way you're going to get better is to just involve yourself with IM full or part time. Spending some time on learning new things is better than just deciding that you're not a master of copy or squeeze pages and just throwing in the towel.

Even spending a couple of hours testing and trying new things each week will show amazing results.

I hate to see someone get discouraged because I know what it's like to feel like it's a waste of time.

However, if you really want to see some quick results, I highly recommend outsourcing some of your projects as well. You could probably have someone put together an insane squeeze page for $100 bucks in the WSO forum, or maybe the copywriting forum here.

Anyways, you're light years away from 90% of all other newbie marketers so just keep plugging away at it.

Bigger headline...stronger and more visible call to action. This is opt-in page. Don't be scared to act aggressive.

I remember that when I had very 'clean and soft' opt in page(very "honest") my resulst were bad. Just when I added bigger headline, change font and became more 'aggressive'(with my promises etc) my results where 100% better!

I'm going to move away from what everyone else is saying.

I don't think there is any reason why your opt-in rate would be 0%.

Perhaps you could look at your traffic generation techniques. It is possible that you are trying to attract a crowd that is not interested in what you are offering.

If I had to look for a flaw though, I would say that your disclaimer at the bottom is far too long.

Try putting the optin box above the fold, make a video or audio about the benefits the products will bring to them, dont make a list of them because it will be to long. It would also help to change the submit button into something a bit more colorful.

    "HEY! Stop Paying For Information!.."
..Especially When You Can Get It Here For FREE!
I would make the font a but bigger and bolder,
Personally I would change it also to something like this

"Finally, the bundle package that will make your Internet Marketing business much easier to run!"

*im no guru this is just my opinion*

I would also remove Snap Video Pro, Jing is free and much more fun and easy to use. When your list finds that out they could be a bit disappointed. I have resale rights to SVpro but I saw no point in using it because like I said, Jing is more simple. Its a waste of of space in my computer.

    Remove "And" from and email:

It would help to add a pic as well, Try to insert a dashed out line of the optinbox to draw attention to it.

I would add, Disclaimer (in bold) right above this. When I saw the Paragraph I thought it was explaining the product. Or make link to a disclaimer page.

    PHP Code:

      Hello John,
I have squeeze pages that convert well for me. I don't have exact stats but they work. They are free squeeze pages and they are in my sig below. You can use one of them to recreate yours if you want. But basically I think your missing some bulleted points to let people know what they will be getting and how it will benefit them. Take a look at one of them and see what you think.

Like your squeeze page and will download. I made some changes based on feedback here.

I have been a lurker for some time, and have learned a ton from reading through these forums. My list is a huge part of my biz, so creating a killer opt in rate was important to my ROI.

I found that dark backgrounds and a "story" was critical...You have to grab them and answer these three question in something like 5 seconds...

        Who the hell are you?
Why the hell should I care?
What the hell are you going to give me?

I took a few minutes and hacked up your opt in page to show you what has worked for me.. (Attached as text file, just rename to .html and split test!)

This format has been converting at 35% for me since I switched from white to black background...(See Aweber screen shot)

Paying it forward fr all the help these forums gave me... hope this helps your opt in rate!

I would say you should add a header and change the background color. The page looks sort of half finished.

Personally, I would also you should do a different opt-in page for each product. Ie

Get FREE Seo tutorials, act now and get our keyword analyzer tool free; a XXX dollar value.

    Etc.

Having all of them mashed together just doesnt seem professional. It makes you look desperate for the opt-ins; and be that as it may you dont want your potentials to know it! You need them to think there the ones who need YOU.

Some great info here. A 30+% rate is killer!

John: I'd recommend uploading a higher-res ebook cover. Maybe make it bigger (bigger = more desire). Also shorten the width of the paragraph that begins "Enter your first name" and keep it inline with the form text boxes. It still looks hastily thrown together at the moment.

    Hi John,

I'm no capture page expert but I am a consumer so I want to know "what's in it for me"--the benefit. I like what Ricardo said "...that will make your Internet Marketing business much easier to run!" or "that will drive hoards of people begging you for your product" (not a copyright expert either). Just my 2 cents worth.

I would suggest you add a video to your opt-in page. Let them know that what they will be getting for free after they sign up is something that they can't live without.

Add a few eye catching graphics.

Change the background color to black (always works).

    Make your headline larger.

You must have some sign ups from Warriorforum now.

I don't think anyone mentioned this, but what stat checker do you use? Analytics?

I know that twitter often will show like 50 clicks to your page but actually none came. It seems to be some sort of bug - or something.

I use my own script that tracks clicks to a link. I can also use it to create links that expire for downloads.

Let me say this from the perspective of a newbie. It is a turn off to me to always see people trying to get my email address for EVERYTHING and I know they are just going to bombard me with tons of emails that I really don't want to see.

But if I saw a video in there of YOU talking to ME directly about what that free offer could actually do for MY business then I would be more tempted to enter my name and number.

Also are we suppose to assume the value of list building? I am only just now getting the value of it. After signing up for tons of stuff and seeing marketers trying to make bank off me.

I can see that a lot of guys use the list. But how about explain that too me personally?

Also, adding some graphics or icons of "No SPAM" like the one I have on my squeeze page ( Coaching Online Guide ) actually increases conversions significantly. Try it.

Most of these points have been mentioned already but I'll mention what I consider to be important.

    - Don't use the word ebook. Use blueprint, system, report, or whitepaper instead.
    - Have a bullet point list of benefits
    - Add video because video keeps people engaged and on your site longer. The longer they are on your site, the more they'll explore and act on your call to action.
    - Have a strong call to action.
    - Create a new ecover for a product if you're using something with giveaway rights or PLR material.
    - Test if autoresponder works (duh)
    - Is your website tracking showing the correct number of visitors? Use reliable tracking.

Start with these points and then test and track to increase conversion rates.

One tip - Making your visitors curious will dramatically increase conversion rates. Instead of telling them what it's about, try telling them what your product is NOT about.

    For example:

    It's not about

    - list building
    - joint ventures
    - social bookmarking
    - article marketing

Some very good suggestions in the thread for changes to the page. Many that they point out are very likely to give you a low conversion rate and most certainly should be changed. That said, a small sample size like that doesn't give you a true picture of the conversion rate for a page. You need a much larger sample to get a true reflection of a pages performance. You could easily make all the changes they suggested and get the same number of clicks and not get a sale. That still wouldn't necessarily mean it's a bad sales page. You may get none for your first 400 visitors and then get like 8 in your next 100.

A little something I noticed -- the SECOND time I looked at the page I saw the italicized info about each book. First time, my eyes skipped right over it. Don't know why, but you might want to change this. Generally speaking, the page doesn't seem to hold my attention, it doesn't give me any reasons to opt in -- the old What's In It For Me is not there.

What you have got to do is find people with a problem.

The next thing to do is to solve the problem for them and find a way to give a free product to the people. You well then get people signing up.

Unless you have targeted your twitter follower list exclusively to the IM niche , I wouldn't get too excited about the traffic not converting .

You are an internet marketer . Does some over used PLR make you sit up and pay attention.

Guess what... it doesn't me either . You and Me are our target market to some extent . If we are going to offer bait to the average marketer ... it should be something that not only appeals to us, it needs to be something that is a no brainer .

Think about it . Can your business survive without PLR material ? Will you business shrivel up and die without the hyped up ebook?

Necessities make the best bait . Out of everything a business needs ... what is the one thing it must have to survive ?

    '
    '
    '
    '
    '
    ' Traffic.

There is not a online marketer anywhere that does not need traffic . This is not a fact you have to sell. It is common knowledge. No one is sitting around debating the fact that a little extra traffic will help their business.

Okay ... maybe someone out there would be saying " well I don't know , that extra traffic might crash my server " I know for a fact this is not the norm.

    How do I know ?

This is exactly how I built my first list in the IM related niche. I built it from traffic exchanges , ad exchanges , and credit based safe list . I didn't know jack at the time about article marketing , seo, or ppc .

    What was my bait ?

500 no credit card needed guaranteed visitors to your site . That's right folks . Put your credit card back in your pocket . I would give you the link right here on the page but then everyone would know where to get these visitors . Me and you don't need the extra competition so just fill in the form below and I will send the link straight to your personal inbox.

I am an affiliate for an instant pay (huge ) safelist . I put my aff link in the redirect and made $10 off of an average of every 5th one also.

I have had as many as 125 new sign ups a day . I averaged over 50.

Now I now you are saying " I don't have 500 free visitors just laying around "

This is a simple problem to overcome .

Rent your own traffic exchange . This will cost you about $12 a month. Once you "own " an exchange , other owners will give you free ad space for ad space on your exchange . I was surfing well over 100 te's and never logging on to them . I gave them unlimited credits and they did the same thing for me .

Now you are getting your squeeze page in front of thousands a day that is looking for traffic . You are not doing any surfing . You are building a list at a high rate of speed .

Plus you have administrative access to all of your own members email . This number will be up to a couple of thousand or more if you decide in the beginning that you are not trying to make money from the traffic exchange . Give the traffic exchange 1 to 1 ratios with ten second timer .

Concentrate on the list . The list is where the money is at .

Stop calling it an "ebook" and make it something different, something BIG, something know-one has never read before.

If the people you are selling to were to ask themselves this question: "What's in it for me?"

    What would they say?

Put that something in the headline.

I looked at the page. In general, there is nothing wrong with the page per say, but I don't see in reason for them to Opt-in. First of all, you must remember that his business is about a Great Strategy and great Copy Writing.

The Squeeze Page is a step. My suggestion would be to have a couple of Bullet Points and tell them what they are going to learn inside. Last and most important, you must learn what to say at each step.

      Jimmy.
